Right, now bat half decently, get a lead of at least 250 with 3 or 4 sessions left and we're in business.

However, we are quite capable of messing this up and giving New Zealand a much easier chase then it should be.

Yeah, WI right in this. Plenty of time to score 300 and shove NZ an hour before stumps tomorrow.

So ends a fine first-innings effort from New Zealand as they finish on 349, trailing by just 18 runs.
ummm, wtf? 2 batsmen batted well. Fulton, Rutherford, McCullum, Anderson and Watling all failed.

Huge danger for the Kiwis now. Anything over a 250 run lead and you feel it will be too much for us in playing Narine on a wearing pitch.

I still think this pitch has showed little in terms of real dangerous turn and our batsmens' problem is entirely with getting psyched out over Narine rather than the pitch. None of the other spinners have showed any threat.

At least we've had a look now and KW was the only one all at sea (Anderson improved once set).
To be honest they had a look in the first test in the caribbean too but Narine still gave them several problems in the second test aswell!!..

Really delighted for the lad!!..this is his first four day game since early this year and to come out in conditions he's never bowled in before and get 91/6 is just stunning. Shilly was taking wickets but i always complained that he was getting 5/130 and stuff..Narine's stats in this innings is what quality spinners do!!..he needed this and i really hope this is his coming out party..much like Steyn when he was dropped from tests and came back and performed in NZ.

It's just a pity Permaul didn't give him the backing he deserves!!..infact none of the others did and it may cost us this match in he end...in the caribbean Narine had Roach backing him up along with Rampaul chipping away...but none of that is here and it showed.

Permaul is gonna have to pull his socks up for the second digg and fight for his place now.

Looking ahead i can only hope we get off to a good start and bat until late tomorrow...anything above 260 should be enough on a 5th day pitch for us.

Good observation that. I think these 3 players should be given an extended run in the WI team. No more of that waste of skin Best and for crying out loud get rid of Sammy !!!

That's true except in the WI with the pitches turning far more Narine's stock delivery and natural variation were far more threatening on their own so he didn't have to rely on his variations. In NZ the vast majority of his wickets will come from batsmen not picking him because the threat from turn is far less. Being able to pick Narine becomes far more crucial.

Sodhi just needs to concentrate on landing it in the right place rather than trying a variation every 2nd delivery.
