Holy ****. That was a good ball, thought Pujara was bowled at first. Steyn's started to pitch it up searching for that late outswing imo.

Hate it when people compare the cricket substitution issue with rugby and soccer. So much more complicated with cricket because of how different the player roles are and how long you can go in matches without using certain types of players at all.

How about a 12th man who could bowl/bat in case someone from the playing 11 gets a "major" injury? That would be nice for tests.

Dravid is pretty much spot on. It's unfair but it's just something you have to cop, because to allow a substitution would simply create far too many complications.

Yeah exactly.

Given they've got rid of runners it's obviously not the direction they're looking towards.

Whatever games India has won abroad in the last ten years have had this same vibe about them. Fought tooth and nail, bowlers rising to the occasion, batsmen showing balls. This is good strategy to grind them down now that Morkel is hurt. Preserve wickets, tire the bowlers out and then cash in against the spinners who will be called on over time.

Yeah, i think if you were to allow them you'd either have to have a netural doctor to determine whether the injury is serious enough to warrant a sub, or except the game is going to become very, very different.

tbh I don't even think that's the issue. The main issue would be who the replacement would be and the selection process surrounding that player.
