Is it really all that surprising though? I've never been able to take the "pressure from the other end and bowling as a combination makes a minimal difference" argument seriously. Most of the time it's only trotted out by posters who aren't active in match threads though thank goodness.

"Hadlee/Murali had pitches prepared for him"
"Sangakkara is a flat Sri Lankan track bully"
"Crowe isn't an all time great because he didn't average 50 (despite batting on Hadlee's supposed green tops)"

(ftr I don't think Crowe is an all time great before anyone starts, but if he really did score all those hundreds on Hadlee Tops then he would be"

International Regular
The team i'd play is...

Brathwaite
Powell
Edwards
Darren Bravo
Samuels
Chanderpaul
Ramdin or Walton
Sammy (i wouldn't play this joker but he is the "captain" afterall!!..it will be his last test though)
Narine
Permaul
Best

The bottom order with Narine and Permaul should be a lot better than the bunnys that Shilly and Gabriel were!!..i personally believe we have to give NZ something different to look at...the garbage attack he selectors and coach have contrived to pick in the first two tests were just far too expensive!!..allowing around 300 runs on the first day of both tests is just madness...Narine and Permy should be able to add some control to our bowling at least. Seeing Mccullum and Watling speak about Narine in the press ahead of the test seems to indicate that they are a tad concerned!!..and rightly so because if Sunny gets going they know first hand what he can do...while Permy has got two or more wickets in each of the innings he's played in tests thus far...his bowling is also quite tight which would give us a boost really...if they don't want to play two spinners then Cotterrell comes in for Gabriel for me.

I just want to see us bat first and put up a decent score so we can see if NZ can handle some scoreboard pressure!!..the more runs Narine has to play with the more dangerous he will be...it's also an opportunity for us to see what the three young batmen in Kraigg, Darren and Powell can do as unit!!..the last time they played together was in india were we put up 590!!.

Looking forward to see Sunil Narine bowl. He smashed us in the Windies the last time we toured so it will be interesting.

Grant Bradburn commentating on the radio. Wonder how long it will be before he starts making snide comments about the stupidity of picking Taylor ahead of Devcich.
