He was a lot better last time than he has been this series though. His stars weren't good but he did what he needed to. Mind you a lot easier to work that function when the seamers are smashing it
I suspect one difference in that regard was that the batsman he really doesn't like bowling to was horrendously out of nick

Yeah, but that was before The Ashes in England. He wasn't that crash hot out here last time either. Think his loss of form has more to do with how he's been played and where he's playing than his elbow. It's not easy being an off-spinner in Australia.
Question - when was the last time a touring offie actually bowled well? Vettori?

They've clearly decided to go after him this series too though, and Warner, Clarke, Smith and Bailey all play spin pretty well. As they've mentioned on TV, getting Swann out of the attack and not letting him settle tires out the fast bowlers too. It's a vicious cycle.

Of course, you could also argue Swann in top form wouldn't be belted out of the attack.

Yeah I'm with Straussy. Main reason for our RR is great bowling, although we certainly could have been more aggressive against Lyon.
It's not exactly disgracefully slow. It's super hot and the Aussie attack is based on high-intensity bowling and express pace, so it makes sense to let them get through a few overs.

Agree about Lyon too.

the best thing about how they've gone about dealing with Swann is they haven't been afraid to continue attacking him even after he's scalped a few wickets

Shane Warne is not speaking English. He just said something about national parks, koala's and then kuala lumpur = bumper.
