Congrats Cook & Clarke

Riggins

International Captain
Yeah, that was probably the series where Clarke became their best batsman.

Cook the youngest and fastest player ever to 100 tests I believe. This will only be England's 101st test since his debut as well.

Edit: I don't think I've ever wanted a Cook hundred more than tonight btw (or whenever this test) would make me so happy. Wouldn't put anything on it mind. :(
Don't people keep saying he's played them non stop?

I think Cook will tire of the game. The team is on a downward spiral and after having his moment in the sun as winning captain during the northern summer he is unlikely to ever reach those heights again. I think you'll find that he will fairly quickly realise that he has reached his peak, that it's all downhill from here and that he will look for something else to do with his time. I wouldn't be surprised to bump in to him taking people on tours of Stonehenge or selling those horrible green plastic Harrods bags in the Heathrow Terminal 3 departure lounge.

Yeah, I occasionally think of the best batsman who debuted this century. Would add Smith and Sanga to that list.

I consider AB better than Bell but not as good as Pietersen, but I'd say he's closer to Bell than he is to KP, which is why I'd say not in that bracket, but maybe I'm being harsh.

Bell isn't that far off though. A lot of the stuff he's traditionally been criticised doesn't get mentioned by the average fan (i.e. not on CW) when it comes to AB, for odd reasons.

If Bell had debuted in the 2009 Ashes, he'd be so much more highly regarded, I reckon. If you get me.

Yep that's exactly what I meant in my previous post. He's elite now but too much of his career he wasn't. Particularly with Clarke and KP they were pivotal to their team for yonks. Amla was probably more recent but he's been so ****ing epic recently that his record is God-like.

Problem with that criteria is it just means you have to score against either Australia, England or India. No one cares about the rest of the series.

But considering how England were so lol vs. Pakistan in the UAE last year, I don't see why his awesome performances vs. Pakistan there should be discounted.
