100 up for both. I've aired this theory before but I'd imagine it's the first time this has happened with opposing captains in the same test.

Two of the top players of their generation, there's no doubt about that.

My favourite Cook moment probably his rearguard at Brisbane last time out, or his efforts in India generally.

Clarke has had some decent innings too I suppose :p Though he has improved out of sight since, it's always the 09 Ashes I think of most, as an England fan, in relation to Clarke. Was a real coming of age there I reckon.

Yeah, that was probably the series where Clarke became their best batsman.

Cook the youngest and fastest player ever to 100 tests I believe. This will only be England's 101st test since his debut as well.

Edit: I don't think I've ever wanted a Cook hundred more than tonight btw (or whenever this test) would make me so happy. Wouldn't put anything on it mind. :(

This is a really overrated achievement for mine. 100 tests is run-of-the-mill stuff these days so I can't really get too excited about it. It's the equivalent of playing 50 tests 20 years ago. Very ho-hum.

Possibly the most stupid question I've ever read. Were they twice as long? Were you twice as thick? Who knows what your cranial capacity was back in the late 80s/early 90s, suffice to say though that it wasn't sufficient to understand why 100 test appearances isn't nearly the achievement it once was.

In 93 we played 3 Tests away to India, a 6 Test Ashes then played a 5 Test rubber in early 94 away to the Windies. Not exactly half as many, half the achievement. But then I am not sure why I am giving you the time of day anyway.

You gotta go further back though. To reach 50 Tests by '93 you would have to play through the whole of the 80s. NFI about the numbers then.

Without checking, I'd be surprised if our Test tally halved. Home Tests in the summer, tour in the winter

And this is aside from the other obvious reasons that it's still a fine achievement. In some ways the fact so much international cricket is played makes it all the more remarkable these two have reached the landmark so young. Especially Clarke given his battles with his back - not a feat to be dismissed.

Two of the best batsmen of thus generation... After the Mighty Hash of course.

Clarke is quickly becoming one if my favorite batsmen. Love the way he can change gears and pummel the bowling seemingly when he wishes it.

And hundreds at Perth are very doable... Once you get your eye in you can get a heap of runs in very quick time because it's such an even surface. Backing Cook to finally come good in this test
