Well, that breakthrough was a big relief. I was beginning to worry... a lot.

Ideally New Zealand will rap this up this evening. The bowlers are going to be knackered after spending 2 and a bit days in the field, and an extra day of recovery could be vital given the short turn around in between tests.

Hi everyone. Good days cricket so far, heartening to see such fight from the batsman who have been so unbelievably poor in the last 3 tests. Good signs for the rest of the test matches. Great delivery from Anderson to get Narsingh out. He's looked pretty innocuous to me tbh but you can't argue with his RPO in this match, very tidy.

Incidentally, someone on caribbeancricket.com has reminded me of our last but one tour of New Zealand. Back then New Zealand weren't so into getting the ball changed every 5 overs. But there was an amusing test where Gayle hit Vettori out of the ground and so the ball needed changing. They didn't have a suitably aged replacement so Darryl Harper (shivers at the memory) started bouncing one of the balls on the concrete until he thought it was scuffed up enough. Shane Bond then completely destroyed us with the ball reversing all over the place. Thankfully the game has moved on and I just cannot see something like that ever happening again.

Haha, I remember that. It was utterly ridiculous. Probably cost the West Indies that match. Made Tony Hill look like Simon Taufel did old Daz.

A big difference in class of batting between Deonarine and Ramdin. Good to see the kiwi's staying positive after putting down multiple chances.

This is getting to the point where we can't afford those full tosses and long hops. The more runs they get the longer we have to bat.

They only trail by 44 now. It's not absolutely necessary, but I would like a wicket before they break into a lead.

So if there's no clatter of wickets we'll get the third new ball a few overs before lunch tomorrow, by which stage West Indies should be 130-150 ahead. If that's the case then that will be our last chance.

Hi guys,

Just home from work. Any clarification come through from the TV Ump on Bravo's "dismissal" yesterday?

They were discussing it on radio and concluded that it was simply wrong. Apparently there used to be a rule that the hand was considered bat but the wrist was not, but obviously that's changed. Gould clearly didn't know the rules.

Yet another reason why people aged over 50 should not be allowed in the third umpire seat 8-)

Yeah, this is once again getting back into worrisome territory.

Sodhi looks utterly toothless, there's no way he's getting either of these two out.
