***Official*** West Indies in New Zealand 2013/14

NZTailender

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I'm so pleased with this innings so far as it's proved a lot of my thoughts wrong i.e.

Rutherford was going to score a quick 30 and get out
Taylor would be out between 30-60
McCullum would do the same

Though I thought Fulton would tonne up, and Redmond would get at least a 50.

3/360 (+) is the best you could imagine, really.

Wow Gabriel is just ambling. Looks exhausted.
Certainly makes a mockery of the fact that Rampaul was left out because they didn't think he was fit enough to last a day out in the field. I didn't mind that decision as such - he has to make sure he's in condition for Test cricket if he wants to be picked - but it's ironic to see a significantly worse bowler who was selected for that reason alone completely blowing at the end of the day.

Really think Tino could be a good bowler if he was part of an attack that had good new ball bowlers.

I think he could be very good as, say, England or NZ's 3rd seamer.

Phlegm would be so happy.

That's our selection panel for you. No logic has been used whilst choosing this bowling unit. Anyone who thinks it is a good idea to go to New Zealand with 3 pacers who rely on pace and nothing else has no business being a selector for an international cricket team. The same goes for anyone who thinks that Tino Best is a suitable leader for a test match bowling attack. Particularly if you insist on picking someone as bad as Sammy as captain.

This has been amongst the worst bowling appearance I have ever seen from a West Indies side. Considering I have had the misfortune of watching Adam Sanford, Nixon McLean, Dwight Washington and various others bowl over the last decade or so, that really is saying something.

Anyone else think Taylor looks at his most vulnerable when he's trying to leg glance it?

Now imagine what WI would be if they had Roach, Rampaul, Best fit and together for a test series.

yeah, it would actually be a decent attack. Still the question of whether they'd have the ability to keep it tight and put together maidens, but certainly infinitely better than the current attack.

There's a happy thought at least. We could have a superb bowling attack if you add Shilly as the spinner too, with Narine in the wings. But no, apparently Gabriel and Sammy are the best alternatives we have to offer.

Agreed. Confident Rampaul could keep it tight, Roach can be a little wild but only because he attacks a lot. I don't consider him anything near spraygun status.
