*Official* English Football Season 2013-14

International Debutant
Also we have some kid on loan from Liverpool called Kristof Peterson. Holy **** looks like some talent. Tore Colchester's right back a new arsehole.
Heard he was pretty one-dimensional. Not expected to make it at first team with us, from what I can gather, anyway.

Bale doing ok.
He's now scored the same amount of goals as Tottenham, this season. Basically the same as last year then.

A one-dimensional player can do just fine in League one if he can run fast. For a good few months anyway.

I hear Sledger still doesn't rate him.

Actually tough to call what's been the biggest CW mistake of recent years in football threads, this or Cpr saying he doesn't want United to sign RVP.

Still think CPR is ahead, because he did say he'd rather ManU sign Carroll.

One of my finer posts that....

So with a month to go until the window opens, where/who do you think your side should go for?

I'm going to go very left field on this - I think Arsenal should sign Miroslav Klose.

Why? I hear you all ask. Well, as the world and his dog knows, Arsenal are a bit short up front if Giroud gets injured. Klose should come cheap given his age and the fact that he's out of contract in the summer. There's questionable value to be had in the January window and it's blindingly obvious that unless the arse completely falls out of Liverpool's season (still plausible, it is Liverpool after all), Suarez is going nowhere in January bar a ridiculous offer. Dortmund might be able to be persuaded to part company with Lewandowski, but whether Lewandowski would consider a move to somewhere other than Bayern Munich is debatable. What other top drawer strikers would possibly be available in January?

Klose is experienced and a proven goalscorer at a high level, won't be cup-tied for Europe, cheap, clearly represents an upgrade on Niklas Bendtner (admittedly not difficult), but crucially, had a proven partnership with Lukas Podolski at international level (and briefly at Bayern Munich), and very crucially, works brilliantly with Mesut Özil. You're not going to get anyone else who potentially would be able to fit in immediately on the field if required. He's also desperate to play in his 4th World Cup, where Ronaldo's all time goal record is possibly up for grabs should Germany get drawn against a **** enough side. So he wouldn't just be stopping off for a pension top up.

It has absolutely loads going for it. Make it happen Arsene (unless you've managed to successfully tap up Lewandowski.)

Talks of Morata, surely that would be better in every way.
Nope.

When I'm advocating Klose, I'm advocating him until the end of the season as an experienced backup who'll be able to step in and do a job. Then he can go home and play for Kaiserslautern. Then Arsenal go and sign a striker who's better than Giroud.

I'm advocating Klose as a very short-term stop gap.

Yeah obviously there's a big difference in what we'd expect but one dimensional wasn't what sprung to mind today. More that he lacks experience and therefore the know how to do the right thing once he's done the hard work.

First impression was that he has bags of potential. Good enough for a side with top 4 ambitions? Well not yet, otherwise he'd be nowhere near us. But not someone I'd expect them to be writing off yet. They'll be keeping an eye on him for sure.

I don't really care like, but I would try Morata on loan. Then if it works he could be someone to sign who is better than Giroud.

Better than Giroud means signing a player who's proven. Suarez, Lewandowski, that end of the market. Not a 21 year old Spaniard who might be better.

Morata has looked really good whenever I have seen him but not sure if he comes to Arsenal and does really well then you can't see Madrid letting him go.

Yeah we have got a similar case in Kadeem Harris from Cardiff. Started brilliantly for us, been a little quieter recently which is probably a good thing because I really want him for the rest of the season and am concerned that Cardiff might want to use him at some point.

You can never really tell with these players that come on loan though, first time I saw John Bostock on loan for us I thought he was going to be a brilliant player, came to nothing but Berahino looks like he well might. Szczesny was something else though, so pleased that he has come on this year.

Craig Noone was good for us in that division, has done okay in the Prem this year at times, but never going to be consistent.

For some reason us doing well in the football and us doing well in the cricket are mutually exclusive. Once again England go balls us and yet Newcastle are on a four match winning streak.
