Yeah, or playing that ****ing trumpet. Or invading places like an all-conquering horde

Am off to the game today. Hopefully I won't hear too much of the trumpeter, and will see a lot of sad English faces. If they can be bothered turning up, that is.
Such ignorant posting.

If the English bother turning up mate??? Are you serious?? Think you might be mistaking them for their fickle colonial cousins who **** off the minute the going gets tough. I assure you they will be there, in their numbers, with their trumpet, supporting their team...... as they have done in great spirit win or lose for well over a decade.

you're taking his post seriously when he was joking for the second half.

Don't understand how people can be mortified by the autograph thing and then sing "he bowls to the left..." like it's a perfectly tasteful thing to do.

It seems to have been ignored amidst the poor strokes that Harris' ball to dismiss Cook was an absolute peach. It's not like he had a wild waft - he was drawn forward and the ball swung just enough to take the edge.

GRRRRR. Recorded the Sky Sports highlight package as per their schedule.

Sit down to watch it this morning... Highlights of some regional snooker tournament.

If you're not going to put on the highlights at a reasonable ****ing time, make sure you ****ing stick to the schedule you've ****ing published. ****s.

Er, yes. Obviously.
Got me absolutely ****ed how he can compare the 2 either..

Stand in the crowd and sledge KP all day long, I don't care and I doubt very much whether he would. But get him to take the time out to do Mr Johnny Nobody a favour and then get ****ed off??? C'mon Hendrix, you really can't be serious???

Like I said, I've seen some English fans do much the same to Brett Lee and it was totally embarrassing.

Well actually he stuck the emotican in for the first part indicating the jest......nothing there in the second paragraph to suggest it was a joke.

And it always amuses me when someone tries to cover a ****e post with a "I was fishing" comment afterwards. I really hope SOC is sat right next to Billy today and he blows that trumpet in his ear all day long.

Billy is a class act and has brought more to cricket than any of his knockers could ever hope to.

Send me a snap chat of your face when Broad skittles your guys in the first hour
Pissed down last night and is really hot/humid/cloudy this morning

Lucky we're 200+ ahead as we have collapsed in far better conditions than this

It amuses me even more when someone tries to cover the fact they made an overly serious reply to a joke by trying to make out the original post was serious. A joke's a joke...unless it's on the motherland.

I wasn't aware I needed to put in an emoticon for every non-serious comment, but will try to do so from now on.

In other news, am on the bus and it's thankfully devoid of those jaunty chaps from the northern hemisphere. No doubt they'll become thicker on the ground the closer we get to the stadium.

Didn't think it was possible for them to get any thicker

Jeez I hate you English people. One of my best mates is a pom and when I get to cricket today the first thing I'm gonna do is punch him in the back of the head.

I possibly should have said "thicker, and on the ground".

It's poor form trying to deny us the 1 day we might actually be able to have a go at them all series to be honest.

Just flew in to Brissy, **** me the clouds are in. Could make Ando pretty tough to face today.

Half a run difference in his bowling average and Johnson's atm. I know isolated stats mean little to nothing, but I wonder how many pommy tears would be shed if he ended this series with a lower average.

If I had followed English domestic cricket and had any idea of who was waiting in the wings as a viable alternative I'd punt Trott now.
Taylor or Compton

But TBH there aren't all that many batsmen waiting in the wings trying to force their way into the side. You have Ballance and Bairstow on tour, and then only really Varun Chopra, Sam Robson, Moeen Ali or Alex Lees in terms of top 3 batsmen sitting in the performance squad, and arguably only Robson could lay claim to being truly deserving/ready for a call-up.
Tbh, unless things change in the next four tests, I'd take a gamble on someone for the next summer. Trott's been average for a couple of years and abysmal since the Champions Trophy, which is particularly concerning given the form he was in for the tournament itself. With Sri Lanka and India coming over it's a really good chance for a young batsman or two t find his feet - especially Sri Lakna - and I think we need some fresher settled players for the 2015 Ashes and 205/16 tour of South Africa. Whether or not it's a Ballance or a Taylor at five or six - with Bell at three - or someone like Chopra at three (if not opening) I don't know, guess it would be dependent on form this season and the start of the 2014 Championship. It's time for him to go though, he has both technical and mental problems at the moment which are showing no signs of improvement. He optimises the England batting line up really; great in 2010 and 2011, but pretty mediocre since, yet somehow getting away without much criticism because of passed glory which is feeling longer and longer ago.

There are loads of uncertainties with England's batting at the moment though. Second opener is still relatively unknown; I'm fine with Carberry for now, but he's not settled his long term future thanks to good warm ups and a 40, Root was supposed to be the long term option but has gone back to six after just five tests, Compton looks gone, and we have little idea how close the likes of Robson are to England selection, let alone someone like Lees. Root still has to show a spine at six as well; can't believe people think his technique is well equipped for batting in Australia. In my eyes it's only Cook, Pietersen and Bell who are bankers in the top six for now.

We'll learn a lot more by the end of the series but I would probably be going something like this for the first test against Sri Lanka

1. Cook
2. Carberry/Robson/Chopra
3. Bell
4. Pietersen
5. Root
6. Ballance/Taylor

With one of the potential openers maybe batting at three and everyone else just shifting down (from that line up).

Third seamer is still an issue as well IMO. Bresnan's fine for now, but he still needs to show he's somewhat back to his best long term before he's properly the designated incumbent.
