Never heard of him before he popped up in Melbourne grade cricket so don't know what the preconceptions would have been like.

Spent a year playing 3rds for Carlton two seasons ago and then a Carlton assistant coach got the job at the Bombers and he followed him. Had a good year last year, he's quite good technically but it's a real block or kitchen sink situation with him. Think he was a pretty obvious candidate for this weird rookie thing in the BBL though, after 700 odd runs in grade last year, and he does try and bomb them.

Nah, supp list is different from the community rookie thing. Same with the development rookie.

Each team gets to name a "community player" who they've essentially called up from grade cricket and is only on match payments, and the Renegades picked Mire. They could theoretically select him for the first game even if they didn't have any injuries; he's part of the squad. I don't think the other teams are even allowed to touch him.

Hopefully Queensland put up a better fight this time around. Last match was a waste of time. Can't see it happening now that all of Queensland's international stars are off to play in the test match.

Peter Nevill to become the 115th captain of NSW

Out of the twelve go Brad Haddin, Steve Smith, David Warner, Nathan Lyon and Ben Dwarshuis (who acted as 12th man).

They are replaced by Peter Nevill, Kurtis Patterson, Ryan Carters and Ben Rohrer (all of whom represented the Invitational X1 while NSW were playing Queensland), plus a returning Doug Bollinger.
