Nah he's already been to the West Indies. And Kohli was on his first ever overseas tour.

That tour doesn't exist for a Kohli fanNah he's already been to the West Indies.
When he actually was picked as a frontline bowler he kept making a habit of proving people wrong and performing in that role. Despite not looking much he kept picking up wickets at a good average with his accurate seamers; I quite enjoyed the whole thing. It only took a couple of games of him not quite as much for the selectors to panic and decide he couldn't be relied upon as a bowler though which is where the problems started. He should've been made to just sink or swim in the role he occupied. Obviously averages don't really tell the whole story but he still has a better Test bowling average than Rampaul, Edwards and Best, a better domestic record than Cottrell and Gabriel etc etc and he obviously adds a lot more with the bat, at slip and with his leadership than all those guys.PEWS to elaborate why he thinks Sammy is worth a spot in a full strength WI outfit. Don't see it at all.
Just a little something now for the spinners. Reverse should be available throughout the game. Best time for batting is today imo. And sensible batting from these two to top it off.so, not so much in the pitch after all then? Missed everything since lunch
Well there is but these two have somehow managed to keep out the wicket taking balls so far at least.so, not so much in the pitch after all then? Missed everything since lunch

To be fair it may be a different in these conditions where you don't really need a third seamer as such, but at home I though picking two opening bowlers, Sammy to bowl first change, the best spinner and Deonarine was actually a really good balance. I'm still not convinced he wouldn't actually add as much as Permaul or Cottrell in this game, but the real point is that if the selectors can't bring themselves to back him as a bowler then he absolutely shouldn't be playing because he's not any better than a number 8 with the bat and Ramdin's so far away from being a 6 that it's not even funny.
Sounds like the perfect bowler Hayden would love to face all day log.Fair enough.
Personally can't recall him ever bowling well enough to look like a threat against decent opposition and certainly not 2nd seamer standard. He's tall and accurate, has that going for him I guess. Doesn't get much movement off the deck or in the air, and when it's not doing much he bowls these dire little off cutters which are pretty harmless (albeit not easy to score off). Just not penetrative enough for Test cricket imo.
Looked up his records and they indicate he did well in his debut series and against Pakistan, but that's pretty much it apart from some Zimbabwe bashing.
The old story of having pacemen to take wickets away will be a problem. If they can find a couple who stay fit they could be a formidable side for many years.India has a remarkable number of young players, could be a very very good team in a few years if they get their act together away from home
We've got like 10+ Tests abroad coming up. Can't wait to see all the careers that will be made, destroyed and revived. Tipping at least a couple of RP Singh in England type recalls as well. Exciting times ahead.India has a remarkable number of young players, could be a very very good team in a few years if they get their act together away from home
That would be great but they have pretty much made sure that they will be insanely strong at home as well with that batting line up. They will not fall too far down the rankings even if they lose every away test series for a while.India has a remarkable number of young players, could be a very very good team in a few years if they get their act together away from home
