Stick a fork in Plunket Promise, it's done. That Devcich video just went too far I guess.

Dear Plunket Promise:

We have disabled the following material as a result of a third-party notification from New Zealand Cricket Inc. claiming that this material is infringing:

....every video.

Actually Devcich and Ryder's cbf compilation were two of the ones they let go!

Ah well, I did keep a copy of a lot of the videos on a data drive, luckily. You'll have to let me know if you want to see one again.

On some days, confessed Kippax, apostasy left him with a feeling akin to “the phantom pain of a missing limb”. On other days, the sensation is more like “having taken off a needlessly heavy overcoat”.

Did they remove any private videos at all? Might be worth trying just uploading whatever you like and linking it in here for a while if not. I'm not sure they'd go to the effort of trawling CW or google for links to videos.

Seems pretty needless considering they weren't trying to make any money off the footage, and if anything you were helping bring the Shield to a wider audience than the unwieldly vault ever could with its terrible website design. Almost feels like they're in a spiteful mood really, since you had the nerve to show the true abilities of some players. The CoM doesn't like criticism after all.

Compiling a bunch of bad shots from a specific player you don't like, and then attaching a sarcastic title to it is hardly "showing their true abilities" though. Most of the NZ domestic videos shown on here should have been fine, but Kippax probably does go a bit far sometimes.

If I had more time at the moment, I would send them a strongly worded letter of complaint pointing out how counterproductive this is; given how little they seem to care about having the Plunket Shield get any kind of media exposure whatsoever.

I don't think Kippax has misrepresented anyone with his videos. Devcich doesn't have a great technique, Anderson does enjoy a flirt outside off to the pacers and Carl Cachopa did have a habit of getting hit. I'd argue it's better to get that in the open at Shield or A level, rather than in an international game.

When you have Jamie Siddons claiming Gillespie is sending down thunderbolts and Grant Bradburn recommending players based on their pink shirts, it's important to have a watchdog posting easily accessible footage so the fans aren't sucked in. No one can be bothered working out the vault: I don't even know how to get into it in the first place from the main page, I just follow the instructions Kippax posted. The best most people get to see are the boundaries and the wickets, and they don't tell you anywhere near as much as a Kippax video. AFAIC the guy should be getting commended for services to domestic cricket, but the cynic in me believes NZC don't like being shown up and would much rather domestic cricket was kept as obscure as possible so no one can call NZC and the domestic associations on their crap. The Ministry of Truth states Devcich is amazing against spin, and anyone who can prove it wrong gets taken out. Just like Taylor was offered the split captaincy from the beginning, and everything possible was done for Shane Bond when he went to the ICL.

And above all else, it's great having someone posting highlights of the cricket we always hear a lot about but rarely get to see with our own eyes. Kippax has singlehandedly caused the marked increase of informed discussion in domestic threads since starting his channel, and because we can actually see the players in action rather than just follow the radio or a scorecard it gives us so much more to talk about, and even get excited about. NZC should be loving his Milne videos.

I don't think this has anything to do with Kippax being critical of fringe players. It's just the NZC wanting to maximise the traffic through their own video scorecards. That doesn't make it any less of a petty, small-minded, dickheaded move though.

Yeah those bad KPIs videos were never published btw, they were just unlisted videos for CW viewing.

It's like posts on a financial forum I guess. If you're going to say the guy who cleverly accentuates a counter-balancing view of a company's outlook shouldn't be allowed to post, that's one thing. By extension though, if you don't attempt to put any sort of censure on the inevitable raft of silly and vapid 'up 5% today, I'm hearing takeover whispers! Go team!' posts, you're assisting the creation of a bubble that untethers that share price from reality. These bubbles burst, which leads to volatility, instability and distrust, and this hurts everyone more in the long run.

What do they gain by maximising traffic to the website, the 150 people who viewed the Devich video are no more or less likely to go visit BLACKCAPS.co.nz as a result

Yes it is there IP, but I dont see how what kippax is doing is negatively impacting NZC.

Kippax sean as your out of action can you post the link on how to get to the vault.

Yeah that's probably right. Not that they promote that feature very well, even CricSim guys were unaware of it.

I think they're more likely actually as it advertises the fact that it vault actually exists; something even some keen followers of New Zealand cricket are still not aware of.

I want to know what the **** the current head of the vault is doing. We should campaign to get them to hire kippax instead.

It really does boggle the mind. Did not one person in the system somewhere look at the situation and think "Hmmm, maybe there's some real partnership potnetial here. We've got a stack of unused, unpromoted material and a guy who clearly has a massive boner passion for getting it out to people"?

In a roundabout way, it probably is. They might not be too crazy about other countries having easier access to the deficiences of our fringe NZ batsmen. I doubt its traffic, given their vault is hardly pushed in any way shape or form. I'd wager it's for my original reason and wanting to protect egos etc

Look at the publishing medium. It's like they don't understand the internet.

This is not going on the news or skysport. This goes on youtube. YOUTUBE. Insert Miley twerking parody here to get the point across; this is not something to be taken too seriously. If people can't understand that the internet is to be taken with a grain of salt then they really have no business uploading to the vault at all.

Idiots.
