Good post Hurricane - however the selectors will think he has done enough in this test to see him in for all of the Windies tour regardless of his shortcomings. So there will not be a place for Ryder regardless of how he goes in the Plunket opening games.I don't think Corey will survive against the Windies unless he gets some coaching for his off drives. There is something wrong with the way he holds the bat effectively. It is good he has such a strong top hand control but you need touch control with your bottom finger tips and his bottom hand is not doing much work for him at the moment. His balance is also not quite right. When learning the cover drive you are taught to move your back foot across as well as your front foot until your body understands the required weight transfer - Corey could use some drills is what I think I am saying.
No one is talking in the thread so I was reduced to having a discussion with myself inserttonguesmileyhereHuh? Hurricane, did you just quote yourself?
some even have twoGotta say, a NZ top seven who all have a Test century to their name makes a lovely and kind of unusual sight.
To be fair he was a legitimate all rounder in his younger, age group rep cricket days. He wasn't a change bowler, he opened and bowled pretty genuine heat. And much of his early success for Canterbury was with the ball - I seem to remember him getting a couple of 5 wicket bags in a FC game and a LO game within a week or two. Then he had some ridiculous injury problems and the batting really took over.I reckon once Anderson does two things he'll be a gun
-sorts himself out against pace
-starts bowling full tilt
I reckon he's seriously underrated as a genuine bowling prospect. I've been saying it since last season - he was built to be a bowler. His batting which may be awesome is a glorious bonus. If he lost all his batting ability tonight I'd back him to make it as a bowler alone, it would just depend on whether he can push past the other three or four left armers.
