urgh, awful. the sooner he stops flaying at anything outside off with hard hands and no footwork the better. Bizarre how he plays so softly with good footwork agains the spinners but just doesn't do it against the quicks.

I don't think Corey will survive against the Windies unless he gets some coaching for his off drives. There is something wrong with the way he holds the bat effectively. It is good he has such a strong top hand control but you need touch control with your bottom finger tips and his bottom hand is not doing much work for him at the moment. His balance is also not quite right. When learning the cover drive you are taught to move your back foot across as well as your front foot until your body understands the required weight transfer - Corey could use some drills is what I think I am saying.

Man I wish we had a speed gun. This guy al amin is probably 125-130 but his action makes him look 110 and makes me think I could bat against him.

Good post Hurricane - however the selectors will think he has done enough in this test to see him in for all of the Windies tour regardless of his shortcomings. So there will not be a place for Ryder regardless of how he goes in the Plunket opening games.

Gotta say, a NZ top seven who all have a Test century to their name makes a lovely and kind of unusual sight.

Bangladesh have themselves to blame here..280 was never going to be enough..this goes to show that while they have improved greatly, their batsmen are still vulnerable to mind freeze from time to time..

I reckon once Anderson does two things he'll be a gun

-sorts himself out against pace
-starts bowling full tilt

I reckon he's seriously underrated as a genuine bowling prospect. I've been saying it since last season - he was built to be a bowler. His batting which may be awesome is a glorious bonus. If he lost all his batting ability tonight I'd back him to make it as a bowler alone, it would just depend on whether he can push past the other three or four left armers.

To be fair he was a legitimate all rounder in his younger, age group rep cricket days. He wasn't a change bowler, he opened and bowled pretty genuine heat. And much of his early success for Canterbury was with the ball - I seem to remember him getting a couple of 5 wicket bags in a FC game and a LO game within a week or two. Then he had some ridiculous injury problems and the batting really took over.

Hopefully he's got through the traditional fast bowler injury problems that strike most guys until their mid twenties and now can crank it up again.

Rahim is fast becoming one of my most hated cricketers - his voice is irritating and his appeals are just horror movie shrieking; "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" and he appeals every second ball. If they're successful the appeal has an "AAAAAAAAAHHHHH HHHAAARRRRR HARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" tacked on the end.

Someone please punch him already.

Surprised Wagner's batting above Sodhi. Despite his inexperience, he's definitely got a bit of talent with the bat. Not a big issue, Wagner's useful anyway.
