Faulkner reminds me of Woakes in the fact I think he is a decent one day cricketer but can't see him doing much at test level.

Scoring rate has an awful lot more variables that the batting tactics, so I'd say one year isn't really enough to get a fair picture of the sides. Every side's faced different attacks in different conditions.Average Test Run Rate in last year

Yeah he's in an unfortunate spot; his player type is much more useful in one day cricket but his actual skills with both bat and bowl are more suited to Tests. What he needs is for the ICC to introduce a "maximum 18 overs per bowler per day" rule in Test cricket.
Very much my thoughts on Woakes, I don't see either being fixtures in there respective sides but if they can carve out that option as the 3rd seamer who can bat 7 they should both be around for a while.
