Smith and Watson running together doesn't fill me with hope at the best of times, let alone with Watson hurt

He needs to work out how why he can't get forward to Broad. It's a serious technical issue

EDIT: Well we all know why he doesn't get forward. But he needs to fix it.
Yep exactly. A compact forward defense would have been good. It was definitely a terrific ball though, but Clarke is a terrific batsman who should be able to keep that out.

At a bare minimum he should nick it. I don't expect him to survive a ball like that but it's a significant technical flaw that needs addressing quick-sharp.

Watson and Smith cannot be allowed to take them to victory here.
I know, it would be horrider then anything ever, in the horrid spectrum of horror.

Honestly, WTF from the Aussies saying Clarke made that ball look better than it was, it was up there with any Harris delivery.

Broad has slipped himself here, needs another one in this spell. We have got hold of the run rate as well.

I think he just knows the short ball threat is always so likely with Broad. Makes it harder for him to commit forward. Probably the 4th time he's just prodded at a full ball from Broad and either missed it or edged it.

Well, it was a jaffa, but he did make it look better than it was by not moving his feet at all.

Just like Root did yesterday funnily enough.

He's been doing it all series. Plays Broad from the crease. How many times has he successfully driven Broad straight?

This ball was almost certainly beyond anyone, but it's incredibly worrying that he's developed such a clear target in his technique.

The thing is we've (the English) have been fielding **** for two series about us not giving credit where it's due. In the end the ball was beyond anyone as you said.

Its a complete meh for sure as I gave Broad credit, I said it was a terrific ball but I counteracted it by saying Clarke is a terrific batsman and looked like he had no ****ing clue due to his poor movement which you would think would be better from a bloke who has just made 187. Anderson's ball was better but both very good.
