I don't really agree as it was just the third Test of the summer in a must win game for us against strong opposition. The Sri Lanka match would have been better. Although, who knows how injured/fatigued our quicks were. Also makes the selection for the Perth test against SA not as bad. Even if the replacements weren't the best, there's a reason Hilf and Siddle were left out.
swanny now up to 3 as well.I think it says a lot that all of our bowlers economy rates for the series are under 3 except patto, all of your are over 3 except swann (2.99)
I thought Australia's whole bowling unit were very good on day one. Maybe not as much on day three and this morning, but still okay.To be fair, Lyon bowled well too.. I think that even Bird and Siddle did better than our lot, we went after them this morning, could have easily gone the other way and gotten ourselves out, Oz haven't had to take too many risks here, it's been abject buffet bowling, which they've played well.
And another floaty half-volley to emphasise.....
hasn't been hit in the balls yet.well clarke's set then
Completely opposite to last series as well.swanny now up to 3 as well.
obviously not a show of whose bowling 'better,' but a decent indicator of discipline i guess.
Is Chris Woakes a chance considering he is sub-fielding randomly? This has been a dog**** bowling performance from England. Poor control of length, too many boundary balls, and defensive fields. Not been good. Dunno what we're going to do for The Oval, Jimmeh looks like he needs a rest, the batting hasn't been good enough, Broad's bowled really poorly in this innings, and even Swann has bowled poorly. Not been a good display.
Geoffrey refused to say who he wanted in, didn't want to 'give the selectors ideas'. Though did say he wanted Bell in 4 times and Pietersen 3 times in the top 7.
A chance to show this bowling has been quite tight, you mean?Is Chris Woakes a chance considering he is sub-fielding randomly?
Massive workload in the 1st and 2nd test mixed with short turnarounds. It was perfectly logical. (Hastings being picked wasnt obv.)I don't really agree as it was just the third Test of the summer in a must win game for us against strong opposition. The Sri Lanka match would have been better. Although, who knows how injured/fatigued our quicks were.
big time. especially to cook and trott, the execution of our plans seems to have been outstanding. can barely remember a single cook cut shot this series, where he scored a thousand out here.Completely opposite to last series as well.
For the series your saying? Don't forget last Test in the second innings we were trying to smash it and although not a huge period, England's second innings they were just trying to draw the game and wait for rain so you have to look at these things a bit too.swanny now up to 3 as well.

I don't think the fact it was a must win game means anything, they weren't picked because the selectors/Clarke/Arthur thought that Johnson and Hastings would do better, due to Siddle and Hilf's workload. It was only the third test in the series, but they'd done a lot of bowling just a few days before due to Patto breaking down.I don't really agree as it was just the third Test of the summer in a must win game for us against strong opposition.
