*Official* Fourth Test at Chester-le-Street

The only positive to this 10th wicket partnership is that it shows that batting conditions aren't bad at all.

Yeah, fans are always more likely to lay into their side than give the opposition credit. I usually don't like it, but it's understandable in emotional situations like the Ashes.

England fans in never crediting the opposition bowling side shocker.
It's because too many people seem to think Tests are just a long form of T20 where the batsmen can just skip down the track and slog however much they want.

I don't think Australia's bowling has been particularly outstanding but it has been incredibly disciplined. England's batsmen have scored slowly because there's been very little for them to really score off, it's not like last series where they gorged on a wide variety of pies.

No it's that all series when England have been bowled out cheaply, ie most every test, no credit is given to the bowling side. It was the same against NZ too. There's a recurring theme among England supporters on here that whenever the team gets rolled cheaply its always the batting and never attributable to the good bowling of their opponents.
tbf it tends to happen. Some of us can remember the way England's 2010-11 performances were dismissed on the basis that Aus were the worst side ever and other teams were lining up to win 3 games by an innings over there. That was complete crap of course, which is why I find our performances over the last 20 months mostly unacceptable.

Jimmy our best bat. This is moving past annoying into decent contribution stage. We were struggling to get 220 at one stage so if they can hang around for 30 mins tomorrow and get us around 250-60 its something to bowl at.

Overall Australia bowled well. Lyon, Harris excellent and Siddle and Bird backed them up well. Some terrible shots from England, and we really have to look at how little pressure we are putting on the Aussies early on. Letting them strangle our RR puts pressure on the middle order.

Anderson smashing them here. Good shizz
Who the **** is this?

238-9 not an awful score in the context of the strengths of the sides an the conditions. By all means we should be looking to score more having won the toss but I think this will be a close test match.

wow, good day, the debate rages on about who is responsible, honestly the batting was good until the 45th over or so and the bowling not that great, then of course the balance switched, England in trouble here, 350 was par I felt, mind you, nothing is par until Australia bats.

I'm suggesting all series, nay all summer, the soap dodgers give no credit to opposing bowlers. Is it that difficult to understand?
It shouldn't be hard for you to understand that people tend to focus on the performance of their own team. And as others have said, most of us have been full of praise for the Aus attack, so I don't really get how needy you appear to be about it all. Anyway, enjoy your day, you're well on top here

Anderson's approach was perfect for the situation he was in. Looked like he had the ****s tbh.

I swear Jimmeh's footwork against spin is actually amongst the best in the England side because he never gets caught on the crease. He's always decisively forward or back.

I assume Jimmy has just sealed this series as the highest scoring series for a number 11 ever?
Spikey help. How do I find this on statsguru? Can only find most overall runs from 1-11 in a series, or most runs by a particular number 11 in a series.

They were serving up rubbish for most of the post-lunch session, unless you think Trott was going after them ala KP - although he does seem to posthumously run down the wicket these days.

One thing Clarke's been really good at is his field placings. It's all very well criticising England's batsmen for lack of intent or whatever, but I've lost count of the number of times England's batsmen have played good looking shots straight to fielders for no run. That sort of stuff really helps the bowlers create pressure.
