only two were non age group representatives: Mark Craig and McClengahan
Not sure about that one actually -

Auckland bowler to try his luck with Central Districts: [1 Edition]
LAMPP, Peter. Manawatu Standard [Palmerston North, New Zealand] 26 Oct 2007: 0; 30.

A new name on the Central Districts scene is Aucklander Mitchell McClenaghan.

He is a left-arm pace bowler who has arrived in Hawke's Bay of his own volition to try and further his cricketing career.

A 21-year-old Auckland age-group player, McClenaghan has joined the Cornwall club in Hastings.

He played for Howick-Pakuranga where former CD coach Dipak Patel is the coaching director.

There McClenaghan had to fight his way into the premier team with former New Zealand bowlers Kyle Mills and Kerry Walmsley in the way.
Anyway, we can acknowledge his balloon did indeed soar up and away from his CW detractors, powered by his own earnestness. It's a pity some of those other Flanagans won't model for Postie Plus to keep up with their higher city rents as part of a bigger dream, or go to Chris Martin and jot down his grocery list without any irony.

I could not find on his stats in the black caps website that he had played any under 19 cricket and there is also this which i recall reading a while ago,

In terms of fatherly advice, the little gem dished out by Mitchell McClenaghan's old man when he was 19 takes some beating.

Young Mitchell was just trundling along, rolling his left arm over and struggling to break into the Howick-Pakuranga premier team. Father Dennis had seen enough. Something had to change if he was going to crack the cricketing big time.

Pretty much Mitch was a late bloomer by modern day NZ cricket standards, probably had to work a bit harder than others to get ahead.

Heard funny stories about Hutchinson in Pearce cup last year. According to some hard done by batsmen (so take this with a 1000 grains of salt) he got given numerous dubious lbw decisions as the umpires felt obligated to give him good stats so that he could make the Wellington team.

Haha yeah, Hutchinson ducks the ball back in like a demon at up to 136kph, I think that's their main concern.

Bats a bit like Martin Guptill. I see him opening for the Black Caps in the future. I doubt he will play for any team other than NZ, the kids a kiwi.

Simon Keen is/was also a stupid Australian meme on cricsim...

Grade player on the fringe of NSW iirc, but that might be completely wrong.

That's BS that Johnston or Lonsdale missed out for what looks like an Aussie LO Specialist.

Yeah I thought so too. Played some Big Bash games last season that had the NSW boys frothing, iirc?

McPeake looks a talent on the rise | Hutt District... | Stuff.co.nz

Took all his wickets in Hazlett so he is jumping over Pearce to go to the big show. I would think most of the pitches would be pretty decent despite the assertions of the article. 81 wickets is not too shabby. upper hutt's record is 51 I think.

Not taken with Patel from the glimpse I got of him T20. But realise this is an unfair comment given his debut was against Ryder.

I just made the mistake of reading the 2007 domestic season thread. We were all exaggerated versions of ourselves back then. Blakey was snarkier, Heef was more eccentric, Bahnz was on suicide watch and hey anyone else remember natman20? Whatever happened to him?

We don't have personalities anymore.

The first page of 2009/2010 is funnier though. I get in a fight with SteveNZ's first incarnation SmityNZ about Mitch M and Howsie thinks Cameron Merchant is a good player.

I only made a handful of posts in 2009 thread here is one of them

These 20/20 games have been my first opportunity to watch Kane bowl. He didn't bowl today but bowled the other day. I don't like his action at all. I think Nicol has a far better bowling action for an off spinner.
I was hoping that Kane could be an all rounder for us - but after watching his action I have given up on those aspirations.
