Cooky Monster
U19 12th Man
Fair play Bell, hell of a knock.
This is nonsense imo. It's been a terrible innings. Against Watson he was trying to slog everything, he just couldn't get it off the square and got lucky that his mistakes didn't get him out. Then he almost picked out the man at deep midwicket with some atrociously poor shot selection. He even nicked out to slip but wasn't given. If he plays like this every time he'll average about 6. He's just got really lucky.Really pleased the two at the crease batted the way they did today. The catch will obviously be the talking point, but this is the sort of innings England fans have been crying out for from Broad for a while. The guy can clearly bat, he just needs to play more innings like this when he bats properly and doesn't slog everything.
Nah Ramdin actively went out of his way to hide the fact he'd dropped the catch a batsman's well within his rights to not walk if not given.Of course they're comparable, they're both 100% aware that the on field decision is incorrect
Well saidComparing Bairstow and Bell walking, does anyone else feel a fine and example should be set to the terrible behaviour of the miscreant by the ECB.
A heavy fine for JB, would be my decision.
TBF to Broad, he was already well over 6 when Watto came on, but your right he was pretty hideous after that, but really not a pitch he wants to bat on. Amazing he's scored what he has in this match. 2nd high-scorer for England isn't he in the game? This is nonsense imo. It's been a terrible innings. Ramdin just didn't say anything much like Broad didn't say anything, Ramdin picked up the ball threw it to the umpire, I don't know where that ranks on actively going out your way to hide a catch... I am of the opinion both actions are as reprehensible as eachothers and the fact that Ramdin gets labelled a cheat and Broad doesn't and that Ramdin gets banned and its very likely Broad wont, I think its double standards, and apparently so does Mikey HoldingNah Ramdin actively went out of his way to hide the fact he'd dropped the catch a batsman's well within his rights to not walk if not given.
I wasn't a huge fan of Ramdin's ban but seriously, mate, this is absolute nonsense. I don't even know how you've managed to convince yourself they're in any way the same.Ramdin just didn't say anything much like Broad didn't say anything, Ramdin picked up the ball threw it to the umpire, I don't know where that ranks on actively going out your way to hide a catch... Gee, that's pretty incredible. Guess it's what happens when KP misses 6 of those dozen testsDavid Hopps said:England's run rate over their last dozen Tests is lower than any Test nation but Zimbabwe
Fair enough I guess. I don't really mind him slashing at width on a pitch like this. Only risk is a drag on as a lot of edges aren't that likely to carry to the slips. That slog off Agar isn't as bad as you make it to be IMO. He clearly tried to hit it straighter than he did, just miscued it slightly. He still got it in front of the man anyway. This is nonsense imo. Okay so please explain how they're such a incredibly large gap between standing there and not appealing when a catch has been taken because that's all Ramdin did and standing there when you know you've edged it and not walking, the ICC banned Ramdin for acting against the spirit of the game, please tell me how one act can be so much more against the spirit of the game than the otherI wasn't a huge fan of Ramdin's ban but seriously, mate, this is absolute nonsense. That one wasn't so bad, although he still got quite lucky, but there was another just before that which fell a couple of yards short.Fair enough I guess. Tbf an awful lot on here seemed to think it was outMy word that second review was awful, wasn't it? Wouldn't have hit a fourth stump.
You could actually see all three pegs on impact.
The short answer is that everyone knows that waiting for the umpire's decision is just the done thing but claiming a dropped catch isn't. It's not like Chris Broad just pulled the distinction out of his arse, >99.9% of the cricketing world would have agreed that claiming a dropped catch is much worse. There's a consensus, it doesn't matter if it's an arbitrary one.Okay so please explain how they're such a incredibly large gap between standing there and not appealing when a catch has been taken because that's all Ramdin did and standing there when you know you've edged it and not walking, the ICC banned Ramdin for acting against the spirit of the game, please tell me how one act can be so much more against the spirit of the game than the other
