Looked like a dead cert, but seems to have cooled off a bit. Still seems fairly likely though.
Looks like he may swap the bench at Barca for the bench at Bayern.

Would stay put if I was him, Xavi to play less and less games.

Bees signing 37 year old Javi Venta, no Idea where the hell that came from. Loving this summer so far.

I think United were a little too keen on him, because if he gets to the level we'd be hoping for he'll just return to Barca anyway. He's a great prospect but if he turns out bad we're stuck with him and if he turns out good we won't keep him.

So much for BT Sport taking on Sky and actually winning, Sky got pretty much all the good games. I will not be purchasing their overpriced broadband.

Looks like Arsenal's move for Higuain is dead in the water. Big disappointment that.

Never mind, bound to get Suarez now

Yeah not for me either, but I never was going to take up the extra games, haven't the cash, and we get enough anyway.

Really looking forward to this season though. Premiership is just looking incredible, all the top teams, apart from the Arse, going through major upheavals, all looking to play football too. Everton already look so much better to watch, and they haven't played a game.

Exeter look desperate, but I'm used to that, it's nice not to be wracked with expectations again. Down with aspiration, I say. Yet should have a few youngsters play a lot of games, so let's see how that works out. Parkin for Cureton seems an absolute shambles, but I guess Tis things the youngsters are similar to Jamie, whilst Parkin gives us another option, we'll see.

Interesting times.....

I'm flying out to Dublin tomorrow morning - going to see Derby play Bohemians in a pre-season friendly.

Not just me - a couple of hundred other Rams fans too. It promises to be a wonderful, alcohol-fueled weekend.

It's just annoying because ESPN was free for me

Can only be two things; Marc starts the thread or you should have posted "I've heard it's Liverpool's year this year, league title coming back to Anfield".
If it was Liverpool's year, this thread would be up on four piles of bricks already.

Well it was kind of free for me on the package I had with Virgin, but I've scaled back my package massively, so I won't get it free this year with ESPN.

Gosling playing well, I can officially say he's better than Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Jacob Jagger-Cane is playing, just mention that for his name, but he looks a buzzy little mid-fielder.

Think this summer has finally really shown me how much Brentford have changed in the last few years. Traditionally after losing the play-off final we would have lost the manager and half the squad by now. As it is we have lost one player who was always going to leave if we did not get promoted. Then we have made a long term loan permanent, signed an experienced player which we needed, bought someone who can actually take a penalty, and now out of nowhere a defender who has played hundreds of times in La Liga. Possible Czech Republic international (well 3 caps) to come. Still think we might lose at least one more from the squad from last year but should get decent money and will clearly be in a position to replace them. It is kind of strange having a bit of money.

Madrid spending the cash. 34 million pounds a huge amount for Illarramendi but Bayern spent a similar amount on Martinez.

Either way they have now bought the two best young players in Spain last season. Wonder what this means for Xabi Alonso?

Imagine his days at Real Madrid are probably numbered now, but he'll have clubs queuing up for him. Would make a decent signing for most of the top clubs in the Premiership actually. And Liverpool.

Or he could go back to his old club. The one that should be playing in the Champions League next year that is.

Would make sense given that Real Sociedad will need to replace Illarramendi anyway.

I don't think he'll leave yet. I haven't seen Illa play before but it'll be a big surprise if he's better than Alonso already.

He is pretty bloody exceptional, Real Sociedad were such a joy to watch the second half of last season, you may well be right though. There were rumours about Alonso leaving not that long ago, although that may have for Mourinho related reasons

Czech winger Fillo confirmed on a season long loan at the Bees. Summers are not supposed to be like this.

Thanks. Though as mentioned above it looks like Munich & Guardiola may just snag this one. Starting to look like United have more than likely missed out.
