England doesn't beat Sri Lanka in tournaments, do they?

Especially not on these Ashes-doctored pitches.
Beat them in the 2009 CT and the 2010 WT20 Semi. Obviously the WC 2011 will be the more remembered though.

Should be a great game tbh. Sri Lanka are exactly the sort of side I can imagine England going unstuck against. Good death bowling, good spinners (they should definitely play Senanayake instead of Eranga) and hard hitting batsman England might just have a meltdown against. That being said, I doubt Sri Lanka are that confident going into the game, having lost their first game and having struggled against England away from the Sub Continent recently.

Yes no doubt SL have world class players capable of making today's game a real tight contest. Dilshan, Sangakkara, the out of form Jayawardene, and Malinga, can all have a big say in the outcome of this game. But the fact it is in England, and with SL's troubles in their opening game, it has me believe that England will have too much depth in the side today for SL.

Will Buttler risk a potentially serious teeth re-arranging 'scoop' shot against Malinga ? No doubt about it, imo, course he'll take it on.

I would be very surprised if Sri Lanka get even close to England, a bunch of passed their used by date players and a fickle middle order. Only Malinga can save them.

This could be the game where England get unstuck in their batting. If we bat like we have in the last few games, we could potentially end up sub 200. We can't afford a slow start, and a collapse in the middle, because we're unlikely to be able to recover in the last 10 against this bowling attack. Hopefully Cook and Bell'll get a good start, and set the tone for the innings. Wouldn't surprise me if we start slowly, collapse when Herath and Dilshan come on, and then Malinga skittles the lower-middle order and tail at the end though. Hopefully I'll be wrong.

Bloody hell Sri Lanka, get a shorter anthem
Nuwan: "They should really stick to the short version of the SL national anthem. We used to sing the short version at school every morning to save time."

I hate when commentators say "player X was left out for player X". How do they konw? They get it wrong half the time as well. Remember when the Indian commentators kept talking about how Jadeja was picked over Ojha, when they clearly went with Harbhajan over Ojha.

So shall we just repeat the arguments from last time, save us all a lot of stress.

Ohn0, England are batting to slow, we've got a rubbish total, needed 30 more at least, I despair. Oh wait a minute the oppo have made less than England, but it's still not good enough, or it is good enough depending on your POV. Easy-peasy.

I would've thought the fact that India are the only side who've looked like they can get 250 since England did, would've stopped all the whinging.
