***Official*** New Zealand in England series 2013

BeeGee

International Captain
< Wonders if BeeGee still thinks it's a 240 par wicket & England are raging hot favorites early on.........
I stand by my Gambhiring.

The English bowlers aren't doing my prediction any favours with some ordinary bowling, tbh.

Not sure why so many of you have been bleating on about Ronchi being a shoo-in for NZ  Simply hasn't looked up to international standard in his 3 innings to date for mine, and not just in getting dismissed, but in between dismissals. IIRC Scaly was labouring the point about Ronchi being better than almost all other NZ batsmen. Hasn't even looked close.

Meanwhile, Guptill looking in magnificent touch..........

In his defense he is batting well out of position, and was the only Wellington batsman in the Plunket Shield to stand up to Southee and Boult on a favourable pitch. Very few batsmen came out of last season with enhanced averages and Ronchi was one of them.

And to be fair the only people advocating Ronchi as a specialist test batsman were the likes of Scaly and Benchmark.

But otherwise I agree, and there is no way he should replace Watling in the test side any time soon. Ronchi isn't much more than a very good ball striker and from what we've seen in this series, a classy gloveman as well. Certainly good enough to play as a wicketkeeper batsman but definitely too one paced and technically loose, even when compared with other New Zealand batsmen, to play as a specialist batsman.

Ah ****, Guppers out.

edit: I would still give Ronchi the Champions Trophy as well.

Because you can tell from 3 innings... and it was more about Test cricket anyway, where you only need to average 30 to be one of NZ's best batsmen.

Remarkably poor shot for a guy in that sort of touch, even if he is weak against spin.

Anyways, NZ's best batsmen against spin are in now. Both play very late.

Yes I can. As I said, it's not just based on the 3 dismissals either, his technique looks abysmal, his bat doesn't even come through straight for a start. And he looks like cannon-fodder against anything over 85 mph.

Would really like to have Tredwell and Swann in the same bowling lineup, probably England's best ODI bowlers, or very close to it - dunno if you could get away with two off-spinners, but it's better than having another seamer serve up rubbish.
