don't forget the great tradition of lesser aussies scoring truckloads of runs against us then failing against everyone else.

Fmd that'd be an uninspired little release right there. Thanks for going out on a limb, David Leggat.

Pretty good looking squads (especially after the last couple of months).

ODI top order still a bit dicey...

Yeah, happy with those squads.

Think it's about time Cricinfo updated their profile for Ronchi...
Born in New Zealand, he is a man Australia will be thrilled to call their own over the next few years.

They must be going to open with Ronchi. EDIT - yes they are. The only other option in there is McCullum, and I don't think that's happening. Funny someone like Papps scores a lot of 50 over runs, but they pick someone who had a pretty average Ford Trophy and HRV Cup. Hope they are right (yes, I think Ronchi is a better ODI option than Papps also).

No BJ in the ODI squad? He was doing well down the order a few months ago. Put him up the order, he fails. So they drop him. Stink buzz.

Nuffy Ellis in the squad but no Matt Henry (easily the best limited overs bowler in the country this season), what a crock of ****. Watling missing out is pretty harsh.

Franklin
Elliott
Ellis

God we need some all rounders, these guys are the weakest spot in our team (although Franko there isn't to bad).

Slightly harsh on Butler, given he took tons of wickets for Otago as a first change seamer. Reckon Latham should be in the ODI squad and Ronchi in the test squad. Interesting that they seem to have shelved the Milne experiment for the winter.

Agree that BJ missing out on the ODI squad is an eyebrow raiser. I presume Ronchi is pretty much guaranteed to open the batting then?

Watling had a poor ODI series, so not hugely surprised they decided to introduce Ronchi - although Papps could feel hard done by.

Some pretty conservative selections, I know Hesson likes experience but Henry clearly merited a place.

No Watling

Up until that England series he had been one of our best (if not best) 50 overs batsmen for a decent period of time. But hey, he works hard and will do anything for the team, something that just isn't looked favourably upon in this New Zealand setup.

Feel for him and have said it all along, Hesson doesn't rate him and he's one poor series away from being dropped.

Luke Ronchi 129 runs @ 25. Ah yes, get that man in the team.

As for Franklin, Ellis, Munro and McCullum, fmd. What a group of jokesters that lot is. A group of 20/40 players.

Not fussed about Henry not being in the team. Just look at how letting Boult develop and strengthen his game in domestics has helped him compared to Southee and Bracewell who just got chucked in the deep end.

Frallisullum can GAGF. Munro doesn't have a track record of mediocrity yet so it's not fair to group him in with them.

In Bracewell's case I think he was introduced at the right time, and obviously his performances were crucial to away wins against Zimbabwe and Australia. I think the mistake was playing him in too much ODI & T20 cricket which I'm not sure he's that suited to. Henry is in good form and early season England might be a reasonable place for a pace bowler to debut. Although Ellis obviously appeals as a solid, no-nonsense type of player.
