TBF they were already making suggestions to that effect anyway, hence him getting the arse.

Agree the timing is shyte tho. Unless they have someone lined up it looks like change for change's sake, which is almost always a bad idea.
Yeah, I thought he might pull it around and get them through by the skin of their teeth tbh. But unless there is someone proper lined up, I would say they are as good as gone. Can see this being a situation like the one Wolves experienced last year tbh.

Seems unduly harsh after losing to ManUre too; I mean even the most one-eyed Mackem would've struggled to foresee a home win there.

Unless, of course, there's someone primed to step in...

Nothing is unduly harsh where that maggot is involved. Nothing.

As Sunderland are lovers of the ex-Utd lower prem jobbing manager type, could we see a return of Hughes?

Solskjaer was second favorite with the bookies after Mcclaren who has a ex - United connection too. Not that it means much at this stage.

What a strange decision to sack O'Neill now.

As for yesterday the goal by Mirrallas was good, if that had been bale scoring that we'd never hear the end of it.

Even less happy with the Adkins appointment now
Really? I thought he would be more or less a perfect fit for Reading. The fact that he's ex-Southampton might stick in the throat a bit I suppose, but otherwise I should have thought he's the exact type of coach you'd be looking to get.

Yes wasn't too disgruntled at the time - but no comparison with Martin O'Neill

Think I'd be more enthused at the prospect of Adkins actually. With him at the helm, and with some patience and decent investment I can see Reading doing something similar to what Swansea have achieved, as Southampton were promising to do (and still are, I suppose).

With O'Neil I'm sure Reading would also do alright, but I'd be worried he'd inevitably turn to his 'buy loads of British players for ridiculous prices' trick and clear off once all the cash dried up.

Reading appear to have appointing a man with one eye on relegation when they already had the same level of manager anyway. Looked rather pointless from the outside.

The game's left O'Neill behind. Maybe buying British chavs and inspiring them to run around a lot was the way to success on a limited budget ten years ago but not now.
