Moyes actually isn't great in the transfer market. A lot of the players he spends big money on are so bad that you completely forget that he bought them. James Beattie, Andy Johnson, Bilyadletinov (or whatever).

Pulis is the absolute king of that. He spent 30 million on Palacios, Crouch, Kenwyne Jones and Cameron ****ing Jerome- then when they get spanked by Arsenal he blames not having enough money.

It's even more annoying when Mancini moans about not having adequate resources tbh. He's stopped doing it so much these days, but he was at it all the time a year or two back.

Bilyatedinov was bought for 8.9 million and was pretty decent for 2 and a half seasons before being sold for 5 million.

Beattie was bought for 6 million. Gave them 2 seasons as a decent squad player and then was sold for 4 million.

Andy Johnson was bought for 8.6 million took them near the CL places while being very good for them was sold for 10.5 million to Fulham.

He bought these players at the right time, got utilty for his club and sold them for a minimal loss or a profit. How does it matter how they did afterwards ? That's like blaming SAF for Park being hopeless at QPR.

If these are examples of bad transfers, then he is very good in the transfer market. And that is ignoring his cheap successes like Baines, Gibson, Lescott, Jagielka, Coleman, Arteta, Pienaar, Mirrallas,Howard, Neville etc... just off the top of my head and more expensive one in Fellaini. He's also had to sell so many good players without all the money being reinvested fully back.

If you go purely on resale value you can make those transfers look reasonable, but there's no getting round the fact that they were fairly poor buys and didn't perform well at all. The fact that Fulham thought it was a good idea to pay in excess of £10m for Johnson is mind boggling actually.

You could say they weren't the best buys granted but they weren't extremely poor either by any means. He utilized all of them effectively when they were there in one form of the other.

Not one of them was a complete write off (Particularly not Johnson), and even if they were average players he got enough out of them for his team and hence were sold for decent fees which is important for a club like Everton as they can't afford complete duds without resale value.

Anyways no manager is going to have a 100% perfect record but Moyes' on the whole is very good which was the main point. With the wage limitations and the need to sell their best players regularly, a few dud signings there without the bargain and they could easily be setback 3/4 years and go downwards.

Yeah there isn't a manager around who hasn't signed some duds in his time. Moyes is no different, but in relative terms I'd say he's definitely been a fair way above average in the transfer market.

Yeah this really ****s me off about Stoke. I could just about handle them playing horrible football if they where on a tiny budget but they have spent so much money on so much crap.

It's also annoying how any of the decent players they've had over the years (i.e. ones who have had any flair whatsoever) weren't ever really given much of a chance. Tuncay, for instance, immediately springs to mind.

Like I said about Moyes, will be interesting to see how he does with some money at his next club. Find out then how good a manager he really is.

As for Di Canio to Sunderland, god help them.

Just hope Moyes has found a new team before Wenger decides to pack in at Arsenal. Plenty of rumours going around that he'd be considered as a replacement, which for my money would be a terrible idea.
