Raina in for Dhawan.

What's wrong with Rahane? Or Rohit Sharma? Why is this proven failure being given another shot?

the Srinivasan-Dhoni nexus strikes again.

Why the **** has Raina been called up again anyway ? Only, way it makes sense is if he has been called up due to his fielding as a 12th man.

Wouldn't put it past Dhoni playing Raina ahead of Rahane either and pushing Pujara to open.

Exactly. Hussey's presence would've have solidified the middle order and would've given Clarke the much needed support he lacked. Hussey, iirc always has scored runs in India. It is hard to assume that the same bowlers who were rendered as effective as Hughes' technique against spin, vs England, suddenly became unplayable.
Hussey's presence wouldn't have provided Oz with a better bowling attack

We have scored more than enough runs in 2/3 tests to be competitive

Did Australia bowl one bouncer in the 3rd test?

I certainly dont remember anything getting above hip height

If that trend continues, Raina could score runs

You are right, but how does it matter when Hussey retired of his own volition. He wasnt pushed out of the team by the selectors.

The way Australia are going right now, there are many who can score runs but he isn't the best long term option and Rayudu and Rohit Sharma deserve a go in tests ahead of him now.

And even if he comes in and scores some runs against Australia here, this opinion stands as Rohit and Rayudu can score those runs too.

Also, if they don't see Rahane as a opener as seen by giving Vijay and Dhawan a go ahead of him, then why don't they pick another Opener instead ?

The worry would be that he scores runs then gets selected for the SA tour on the back of it.

Dear sir, he should know better than us about the internal happenings within Aussie cricket, don't you think?

It is clear he was insecure about his position in the squad. And it is a fact he was not considered for ODIs post his test retirement. Why?

Putting one and one together you can easily see his place was under threat. Before things could get ugly, being the nice person he is, Hussey wanted to make a quick exit.
Haha nah that's not even remotely true.

He was worried that if he announced his retirement, the selectors would use the home series against Sri Lanka to blood a replacement, as to not be bringing in someone cold for a hard away tour. So he didn't announce it until the last minute.

Everyone made it very clear they didn't want him to retire. He retired because he didn't want to play anymore; he merely delayed the announcement because he was fearful of the succession planning that would follow if he didn't. He didn't retire early because of it at all.

Apparently Gambhir was picked but was forced to pull out.

lol if India pick Raina.

That's even more ****e. Are they saying there are no other openers worthy of consideration in the country after Gambhir got injured or don't want to take a chance of Gambhir/Sehwag being pushed further down the pecking order ?

If Rahane is the Waterboy for the 16th time and Raina plays again, it would be stunning tbh but won't put it past Dhoni as he loves Raina. :p

I hate to scare you, but didn't Raina recently have a go opening in First Class cricket and say he had dreams of becoming a Test opener?

That cricinfo article on Watson retuning has Arthur gushing on him so Watson starts the 4 th test regardless of Clrakes injury. So that's probably Smith missing out along with Haddin if butterfingers is fit.
