the big bambino

Cricketer Of The Year
Anywayzzzz...feelin' a little depressed now. I guess we're stuck. Probably better chance that we'll get a better outcome hoping the incumbents improve than making a lot of changes. Still can't believe we fell for the bits and pieces selections in India again. We seem to think we get an extra man by picking someone who does a bit of this and a bit of that. Really you get a man short as he doesn't scrub up in either batting or bowling. Then we put icing on their cake by picking Doherty. It was almost like Dhoni was picking our team. Least we can do is pick specialists and I'm with those who want 6/4/1 line up.

I'm not that depressed because the team selected has to be about the worst we have put on the paddock for nearly 30 years

Expecting this team to be competitive when 3/5 bowlers are part-time and/or crap and the batting lineup is 1 specialist short was always unrealistic

I think you'll find that it was Hussey who fed off Clarke not the other way around. When Clarke did eventually fail Hussey couldn't make the runs to save himself or the side.
Didnt Hussey score a mountain of runs in the last Ashes whilst Clarke did nothing?

Why don't people understand that benchmark00 is allowed to base his opinions regarding the quality of our batsmen on criteria outside of who has scored the most runs in the last three series? It's a pretty small sample size in which no-one other than Clarke has actually consistently succeeded anyway, so he's well within his rights to suggest Hughes is better than Cowan and Wade. I don't get the gripe.

I'd keep Hughes in there, let him learn and adjust. He's shown himself to be a quick learner in the past, and we can't keep hiding him every time he looks awkward in a couple of Tests. Because he looks worse when he fails than others means he ends up getting more stick for it.

Going to be interesting to see whether or not in future series we will continue to find the need to have five legitimate bowling options, or if it was just something that we wanted in India. We'd been on a good run relying only on our four specialists plus some Hussey/Clarke to throw in to buy a wicket, but with Hussey gone it's like our extra bowler has to be able to average around 30.

Vaughan is, to state the patently obvious, an idiot. Benchy in right is saying this doesn't mean that much in that our biggest strength is all but nullified by the conditions.
While Vaughan is indeed an idiot, I don't think he's being even remotely serious there anyway.
