Finn isn't in Pattinson's league as a test bowler mate. Lets get fair dinkum here.
Wouldn't say it can be definitive either way, Finn is at least consistently fit which is a bonus.

I was more commenting on the naming of the best 4 young quicks all apparently being Australians.

The reference though was to the best young fast bowlers in the world, not the bext young "Test" bowlers.

By that definition Finn has got Pattinson covered, given Patto is yet to stamp his authority on ODIs or T20Is, formats in which Finn has had considerable success.

It's an unwritten law of CW that we mean Tests unless specifically stated otherwise.

You need to learn the CW default that all discussions are First class/Test related unless stated. Taking that into account Pattinson wins but Finn is clearly better at the shorter games at present.

Duly noted. Finn is a scary bowler when on song. Let's hope he's not in prime form for the Ashes or he and Anderson could discard our top order like they're defective children.

Yeah Pattinson is a bit special for sure.

I think he is as easily as good as Starc though.
I think both Finn and Starc are significantly better white ball than red ball bowlers ATM and still have a lot to prove in tests. Both got a lot going for them, mind.

Unless you believe WW, the best young fast bowlers in the world are Cummins, Pattinson, and Starc (not to mention Richardson who has just led Australia A to a 7-0 victory over England A)
There are a few more around than this mate. I'd definitely take Junaid Khan, for example over Starc or Cummins on current evidence.

Starc and Cummins have shown flashes of brilliance but not the consistent awesomeness of Pattinson, who looks head and shoulders above the rest of the young bowlers in the world at the moment.

India v Australia, 1st Test, Chennai, 5th day : India have found a settled combination - Dhoni | Cricket News | India v Australia | ESPN Cricinfo

MS Dhoni has said India have found a "settled batting and bowling combination" for the remaining three Tests in the series against Australia. It is every indicator that India will go ahead with playing five bowlers, including Ravindra Jadeja as the third spinner, for the remainder of the Test series.

So, we are stuck with Harby, Sehwag, and co then?

Whatever it takes!!!
Would so love to see a line up like this take the field at some point in this series for India..

Rahane
Dhawan
Pujara
Kohli
Tiwary/Rohit
Dhoni (wk)
Jadeja
Ashwin
B Kumar
Mishra
Ojha

Realistically, the same side with Sachin instead of Tiwary/Rohit would still work :)

Basically this test series is a 8 vs. 8 series of test matches. The conventional 11 per side has been done with.

India carrying Vijay, Ishant and Sehwag (Harbahjan is a **** who shouldn't be in the team, but he got 2nd innings wickets which Ishant did not do) and Australia may as well have not had Starc, Hughes and Wade playing.

Seriously? He only got three overs to bowl (and only one with a new ball), compared to 27 from Harbhajan....

//Not saying Ishant isn't being carried
//Harby is being carried at least as much

Fine, 7 vs. 8. I wanted to make it 8 vs. 8 so it was all even, and Ishant was worse than Harbhajan. Why you gotta ruin everything?

Btw, Ishant couldn't get out a tailender when he came on, so **** him and his ugly teeth.

If the pitch is similar in Hyderabad as it was in Chennai, I'd much rather India drop Harbhajan than Sharma as an Australian fan. Harbhajan is dire but Sharma is both dire and was unsuited to the conditions. He's just entirely pointless.
