I disagree with this completely. Flynn to me looks like a limited batsman which he is. He does have some grit but Sharma has a far better shot range, is far more stylish and seems to have more time to play the ball.I feel for Flynn though. I do rate him. The guy does have talent. And yet it almost never comes off. Even when it does, it is usually for a low-key 30 or 40. When he bats well, he looks so good (especially through the covers) but he somehow just seems to have a lack of the thing called application or concentration or both.
An ambitious attempt at a drive to a fullish wide ball while facing your first ball, and that too while being on a pair, can't really be explained otherwise.
A Kiwi version of Rohit Sharma, in my opinion.
I didn't intend to compare Sharma to Flynn with that last statement of mine. I only meant it to highlight the analogy.I disagree with this completely. Flynn to me looks like a limited batsman which he is. He does have some grit but Sharma has a far better shot range, is far more stylish and seems to have more time to play the ball.
Flynn makes batting look difficult and as you said his main problem is that even if he manages to get himself in a reasonable amount of times, he is terrible at making any type of score. We've heard complaints about Matthews and Watson both struggling to turn 50s into hundreds, Flynn finds it difficult to turn 20s and 30s into 50s.
They apparently saw a doubling in sales after the 2011 series against Australia.I find it weird that a cooking oil company is the major sponsor of a cricket series.
Coney is a legend and a fine upstanding gent. He knows what he's talking about.Wow. Jeremy Coney ripping into Hesson on the UK Sky coverage.
Basically called him a lightweight and a liar.
I find it weird that a cooking oil company is the major sponsor of a cricket series.
What do SAs do with cooking oil that's related to cricket? They apparently saw a doubling in sales after the 2011 series against Australia.
For the sake of NZ cricket, I really, really wish he would.Surely Hesson must go after this series?
It's just visibility. Nobody I know goes out to buy a specific brand of cooking oil, because it's never been advertised like that. A sponsorship like this is trying to change this, in the sponsor's favour. What do SAs do with cooking oil that's related to cricket?
If it's a ***ual thing, I don't want to know.
So, I hear you all asking, "Just how **** are these NZ batsmen?"
This is how ****:
For the series...
Guptill
Scores: 1, 0, 1, 48. Total: 50. Average: 12.5
McCullum
Scores: 7, 51, 13, 11. Total: 82. Average: 20.5
Williamson
Scores: 13, 15, 4, 11. Total: 43. Average: 10.7
Flynn
Scores: 8, 14, 0, 0. Total: 22. Average: 5.5
Four of our top five.
It would be nice, but sacking him would mean that the Board and CEO would have to admit to being wrong. Which is never going to happen. Their response will be to try and make Taylor look bad. Again. That is much easier than having to accept any sort of responsibility.Surely Hesson must go after this series?
