In fact, if you search his past quotes he says over and over again how it's just as important to do well in your every day ODIs as it is in Tests.

Nah disagree so much. I don't care if it is the truth, sends the wrong message. Captain needs to make it clear that this really has been one of the lowest points in Indian cricket for 10 years.

And if he was referring to the fans getting crazy, then make that clear. Although that may incentivise people to piss on his house etc I guess. :ph34r:

I'd be tempted to rest them from the NZ ones too. Got plenty of cricket this year and the test matches/series are far more important than a few one day games. Can have a couple of months off and be fresh for the tests ahead. Also gives us a chance to build a squad ahead of the world cup, we know what Trott and Anderson can do and they will both probably be in the side for the next world cup. Find out about the others in the squad so we can replace them if they aren't good enough instead of having them get one or two matches a series and remaining in the squad for far too long.

I think a few of the guys might miss the New Zealand ODI's, but I reckon they do have one eye on building a settled side for the Champions Trophy. It may not be as important as the Ashes, but it's still the biggest limited overs series we'll play before the 2015 World Cup, and something which should be taken seriously with a full strength side.

England have a real shortage of backup odi bowlers coming up if you ask me. Meaker although fast is a trash odi bowler and will get ripped all over the place. Woakes lacks pace and white ball skills. Then we're left players like Harris who bowl medium pace and have never done anything much in domestic od cricket.

I'm hoping a few of the new generation come through this season in county cricket because they seem to have some more of the raw potential to be good odi bowlers. Overton - Raw pace, Mills - Raw pace and left hand. Topley - Left Arm Swing ....

With Bres and Broad's careers going in the wrong direction and more and more resting of the senior pacemen it's a real worry if england want to maintain their current good form in odi cricket.

Yeah this is one of the main reasons Dernbach has played so much. England's OD bowling depth is really bare. Danny Briggs would be worth an extended run alongside Swann if the next World Cup was going to be in the subcontinent again but I can't see two specialist tweakers being the right combination in Aus/NZ.
