I don't see why Dar had to think so much about that either, with bat pad catches you either think he's hit it or he hasn't, it's not like LBW's where you have to recall whether it pitched, where it struck and whether it's missing the wickets.
so basically he was just guessing?

Yeah exactly, completely agree. Swann even assumed he was giving it not out.

he should keep a man back there, Cook loves to cut and it could produce a lot of runs after lunch otherwise.

Should just bowl 5-6 spinners all match and give Zaheer a rest. Yuvi, Sehwag and Sachin can have a trundle.
no....Zaheer can be given a go with the old ball.

Didn't he do better with the old ball in the last test as well?

Besides with only 4 overs to go to lunch it was a good way to apply pressure on England

Harby might be effective here - moreso than the others.

I wonder when the pressure to drop KP gets to be too much? Surely he doesnt have a large leash given his past transgressions? Dropped after the series if he doesn't perform.

No way in hell. Not when you're carrying Bell especially and Trott (God bless the great man) is not doing any better.

Dropping him would be ridiculous now after all that has happened.

KP will play the ashes double header and may well retire after that. We won't drop him with that so close now as with Trott in no form and Strauss retired and Collingwood not replaced we have a couple of weak areas in the batting already, why give ourselves more?

Bell will score runs against NZ and then probably be our top scorer next summer as the pitches he will play on won't turn as much and the spinners aren't of the same quality.

I do feel sometimes that Dhoni cops a lot of unfair criticism but why the **** does he need to bring in a deep mid wicket immediately after a boundary?

it wasn't bad bowling....Cook had used his feet to play into that gap.....Dhoni should have persisted with that to try and draw out an error....not playing it out like a T20 and start saving runs
It wasn't bad, sometimes it is just a good shot. After all these guys can play a bit. They just do it automatically as soon as a boundary is hit so often.
