Reckon Himannv's a bowler short. Ought to have taken an allrounder ahead of Paynter.
I'm a big believer in having just 4 bowlers, particularly if they are 4 very good ones. I suppose there is a risk involved if one of them gets injured or something.

I could get an allrounder in the last round, but in all honesty I'm unlikely to play him ahead of Paynter.

For sure. Only because I don't want Greig though! :)

Going to take Jack Gregory as my 12th player. Capable of batting top six, and also opening the bowling if needed. Great fielder also. Might play in place of a batsman if we were playing a test on a road that is going to be difficult to take wickets on.

He's probably Australia's greatest all rounder after Miller. Also, he used to bat without gloves.

Monk's XII

- Arthur Morris
- Sid Barnes
- Brian Lara
- Stan McCabe
- Neil Harvey
- Michael Clarke (c)
- Alan Knott (wk)
- Wasim Akram
- Shane Warne
- Brian Statham
- Andy Roberts
12th- Jack Gregory

Really happy with this team. Probably the best team I've drafted so far. Very aggressive quick scorers, with a mix of right and left handers all the way down the order. Bowlers who compliment each other in style. One super quick and aggressive right armer, one left armer with great control of swing and great pace, one accurate and miserly corridor bowler, and Warney to make the kill on day 4 and 5. McCabe and "golden arm" Clarke can also chip in with a few wickets. Good fielding combo as well, with Harvey, Lara, Clarke all great in the slips or outfield, Warney decent in the slips, Gregory and McCabe good anywhere, and Barnes a short leg specialist. Knotty a brilliant keeper as well, and his work to Warne would be something to watch.

Definitely a contender for top points with that team Monk. The middle order of Lara-McCabe-Harvey, and the bowling of Warne are the stand-outs for me.

I'm also looking forward to see who Andy chooses next. I have a feeling that he may take the opportunity with his 12th pick to transform his team.

And does Jager have a surprise bowler up his sleeve?

Indeed. I was extremely close to picking Tony Grieg but it just looked so much worse on paper than having Laxman at 6 and Walcott at 7. If these teams were judged more as twelve man squads to take around the world then having Griegy along with what my Round 12 pick will be would've made it a more versatile squad for different conditions IMO but I decided to go for on-paper first XI strength. Sold my soul etc.
I thought the idea was that we were taking our teams around the World on a hypothetical knock-out Test series and tournament - obviously set in the year 2012 so I can buy tickets and watch. At least that's how I've always envisioned the context of Drafting.

Don't know why I assumed all that. Just did.

Do you have a surprise bowler up your sleeve for me? I'm nearly out of ideas :(

I actually thin similarly. It's why I don't like picking players with a poor history of injuries or indiscipline such as Bond or Akhtar
