I thought so too, until the Sydney Test of the tour he captained here. Diabolical hypocrisy.Anil Kumble too
Simply by the sheer fact that it is an opinion would perhaps be enough - though I have fairly significant experience in analysing an individual's character; and my exposure to Gilchrist indicates, to me at least, the characteristics, sentiments and judgements expressed above.Really don't know how you could justify this opinion tbh.
........... and jelly beansthe whole pommy team for giving out mints for free
Ponting and Co. deserved that.. Kumble is a genuinely nice guy with a real passion for the game, as seen in him taking up the less glamorous and more fight-the-red-tapey administrative role with the KSCA.. Top Bloke.. Warney was amazingly real nice to us in Chennai the two or three times he played here.. Lara was a great bloke and if Gilly gets points for being a walker, Lara should get double for NOT being holier-than-thou about it and just carrying it on for an entire career in a matter-of-fact manner, unlike Gilly who only seemed to discover that walking was good from the 2003 WC..I thought so too, until the Sydney Test of the tour he captained here. Nah, previous series he'd given the most God awful spray and send off to Mohammad Yousuf, then came here and preached about the spirit of cricket.Ponting and Co. deserved that.. Yeah, genuinely humble chap (where he has every case to be a conceited ****) and patently loves the game too, sort of bloke who seems as if he'd be happy to pay to watch the sport still. I don't ever recall him being sanctimonious about his walking either; saw it as a personal choice. In fact, I doubt he ever mentioned it except where he was asked outright.lol at people trying to rubbish Adam Gilchrist. One of the nicest person, not just cricketer, I've ever met.
How was he being a prick? McMillan is a known ****head who has had plenty to say to many opposition players over the years, Gilchrist mentioned that he should have walked to try and put some guilt in his mind, obviously worked.Walking debate stepped up - Cricket - www.theage.com.au
This is the event which mostly comes to mind. Definitely takes him down a couple of notches in my eyes. I'm sure he's a great guy anyway, there's not many people out there who don't get a bit prickish about their opinions sometimes.
Doesn't alter the fact that he is though - One of the frustrating things about that Australian side was that there weren't too many of them that it was easy to detest, and with Gilchrist it was well nigh impossible - only Hayden was totally without any redeeming featuresHow was he being a prick? Gilchrist has said time and time and time again that he doesn't care if people don't walk. He has no problems with his team mates not walking, it's just a choice of his to walk. He's not saying he's better than people who don't walk.
