I know what you're doing. Just stop it.

Truth is, India are well on top. I can't see us making much more than 150 here.

Taylor will be out to an aggressive shot soon enough as the middle order starts to crumble against spin.
Mate, 170ish is defendable IMO, especially on a fifth day pitch and three of our top four being completely out of form. 200, and it's even. 250 and NZ definitely has the upper hand.

It must be quite intimidating batting out there. Game in the balance. Bowlers with their tails up. Spin at both ends with close-in fielders. Loud crowd. This is Indian cricket at its finest: in the tradition of the 70's spin attack and Kumble at his best. On the plus side it's a great opportunity for a batsman to play a truly great innings.

Wonderful post.

Yea, it's definitely fun to watch. I only wish the pitch offered a bit more for spin - no deliveries are exploding off the pitch. That may be a blessing in disguise for India, considering they have to bat last, but there's very few scenarios in cricket as absorbing (same thing when there's a fast bowling paradise and you see 6-7 men behind the stumps, and the batsmen are hopping around).

Not Terrible
Reckon today could be Howsie's day actually. Southee and Boult getting the rest of the wickets. Flynn to top it all off.

Ha. I seem to have jinxed India and Ashwin bowls some crap balls. I take it back. India is crap and NZ is going to win by 200 runs.:p

Dang. Ashwin seems to have lost it. Perhaps try Sehwag for a while?
You brought up the classical Indian spinners - Bedi apparently used to give away some fours just to get the batsman to loosen up against him. Flynn played a sweep there and that may get him starting to play a shot he doesn't want to.

I don't think that's Ashwin's style though. And I don't think short balls work that way anyway. IIRC Bedi used to toss up the ball inviting the batsman to drive.

Yeah that was a terrible shot. And Flynn was out at the other end, without any appeal, right? I don't think I have seen that before.
