Didn't Greg Chappell get told by Bradman to change his grip at some point?
Yeah, Bradman showed him his grip, which was a lot more closed than the traditional style. As I said, that's not the type of thing that I'm talking about here - still an interesting discussion though.

Yeah, fair enough. More to the point of what you're saying, IMO top hand control can be a pretty decent judge of form - I know when I play badly my bottom hand starts to dominate. It then reduces the effectiveness of the front elbow as you push through, and results in scooping to short cover-ish.

Obvs a guy like ABdV wouldn't have such major troubles, but it is definitely an area the bowlers should target.

Having sub-continental heritage, I use wrists a bit and find that a stiff front elbow and dominant top hand actually limits my leg side play. Anyway, back to the real stuff, hope ABdV decides to break free and play a KP like innings

Ugh Jacques. Don't like your chances...very expansive.

Doesn't look all that quick off the pitch at the moment.

What are the chances of rain for the duration of the test match?
BBC has a very good forecast for London, occasional shower possible today or early tomorrow, but it's still breezy until tomorrow afternoon so it wouldn't hang around too long.

It would be good if the test match is rained out, unless Proteas score 400+ score.
