Sorry about the delay. Have man flu and been sleeping most of the day.
Darren Lehmann to finish my team. Fine left handed bat, and handy left arm spinner. Really good "cricket brain" as well.
- Virender Sehwag
- Andrew Strauss
- Stephen Fleming (c)
- Sachin Tendulkar
- A.B. DeVilliers (wk)
- Darren Lehmann
- Andrew Symonds
- Daniel Vettori
- Wasim Akram
- Andy Roberts
- Craig McDermott
Happy with the team considering the narrowness of the draft.
Tendulkar the key to my batting, nothing remains to be said of him that we don't all already know. DeVilliers in the middle order provides flexibility for me, as he is a more than capable keeper and a class batsman, meaning my 7 and 8 can be a bit creative.. Sehwag and Strauss provide strike and stability respectively as openers, and Fleming is a solid number 3 and a thinking captain. Lehmann and Symonds at 6 and 7 could provide some headaches for tiring bowlers, while Vettori at 8 is capable of long innings, and my number 9 has a test double century to his name.
The attack is led by Akram, with his left arm brilliance, and the extreme pace and ferocity of Andy Roberts. Craig McDermott, Australia's premier bowler in the period between Lillee and McGrath, is a fine first change, combining aggression with smarts. Vettori will tie down an end with his nagging left arm spin, while taking a few wickets along the way. Symonds, Lehmann and Sehwag all provide legitimate spin variety as well.
In the field we have the brilliant Symonds to patrol cover/point, and Fleming and Strauss in the cordon. Akram, Roberts and McDermott all very good outfielders.
