**Official** South Africa in England 2012

Was this Bresnan's first test loss as a player? Seem to remember he wasn't part of the team for the first test vs SL and I don't think he played Pakistan.

Is there any footage of Rikki Clarke around? I don't remember seeing the legend in action.

Since it isn't the 90s, he might be best avoided if he lives up to the hype.

England to win the next test btw. I can feel it coming, despite the best efforts of Steyn and Philander.

Smith, Amla and AB to go quick. Kallis to be left trying to work with Alviro and Rudolph when the ball is swinging i.e. those two are ****ed.

let's just hope the game doesn't go the same way as the last time we played Saffa at Headingley

Woohoo!! Go Rikki!!

Even as the only person to have ever shouted "We love you Rikki" across the County Ground at Bristol, I'm unconvinced as to his suitability for the England role.
I like that the mentioned his fielding as a reason for picking him.

Or the time before that.

For some reason, we've regularly produced some of direst performances for Headingley. Dunno why we play there really.

Quite. Bugger Wales & France; play English tests in England!!!

Seriously tho, I'd feel much happier if the next test was at any of Edgbaston, Trent Bridge or Old Trafford.

A bit late I know but quality performance by the boys. Just had much more intensity. I was worried we had no cricket but Gazza was right...we were mentally fresh.

Always feels good to fight back from a potentially difficult situation and then seal the deal.

SA ODI squad has been picked.

Elgar in for rested Kallis.
Tahir in for South Australia bound Johan Botha.
Ryan McLaren in for injured Marchant De Lange. Chris Morris pushing surely !

Cricket South Africa on Wednesday named Chevrolet Knights’ allrounder Dean Elgar as a new cap in the Proteas’ Castle Lager squad for the ODI series against England next month.

He takes the place of Jacques Kallis who is being rested ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 in September.

In other changes to the squad that went to New Zealand earlier in the year Imran Tahir has been included as a specialist spinner while Ryan McLaren has been recalled as an additional seamer.

“Dean has been in our plans for some time,” commented CSA selection convener Andrew Hudson, “and might well have made his debut last year but for injury.

“Imran is a genuine wicket-taking bowler and his selection enables us to explore our options in this area.

“Ryan has just come off some exceptional form for the South Africa A side and the added depth he provides in the seam bowling department will allow us to rotate players if we feel the need arises.”

Five members of the Proteas’ squad -- Wayne Parnell, Faf du Plessis, Justin Ontong, Elgar and McLaren -- will travel to Ireland for the South Africa A side’s first ODI there -- and then join the rest of the squad in England.

PROTEAS’ CASTLE LAGER ODI SQUAD: AB de Villiers (Nashua Titans, capt), Hashim Amla (Sunfoil Dolphins, vice-capt), JP Duminy (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Faf du Plessis (Nashua Titans), Dean Elgar (Chevrolet Knights), Imran Tahir (bizhub Highveld Lions), Ryan McLaren (Chevrolet Knights), Albie Morkel (Nashua Titans), Morne Morkel (Nashua Titans), Justin Ontong (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Wayne Parnell (Chevrolet Warriors), Robin Peterson (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Graeme Smith (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Dale Steyn (Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras), Lonwabo Tsotsobe (Sunfoil Dolphins).

With Elgar coming in, maybe they should play 'Land of Hope and Glory' instead of 'Jerusalem' at the start of play.
