For some reason I always imagined him as an English Doug Walters, but I am probably way off!
I don't really put too much stock into SR stats generally. Based on what I've read of him, he is consistent and prolific with the bat and has a perfect technique. He plays with a straight bat and has a complete range of strokes.A classical batsman with exceptional technique and defense - from a sample of 1691 balls his strike rate was 39.26
Nothing wrong with a bit of batting depth Himannv. But I'm wondering who your 5th bowler is? Did Compton bowl much spin? I reckon it's probably overkill having him come in at 6 but I don't really have much choice as the others all pick themselves in their respective slots.
Usually when deciding on a draft team I tend to target four main bowlers. If all four are what I would consider as world class, I don't bother much about the 5th bowler, as is the case in this instance. Of course, I'm not averse to having an allrounder in there if I'm lucky enough to snag one.Nothing wrong with a bit of batting depth Himannv. But I'm wondering who your 5th bowler is? Or do you think that Imran, Tyson, Davidson, and Underwood is enough to bowl out the opposition on their own, and therefore a 5th bowler is superfluous. A fair enough assumption.
This team has no obvious flaws. That bowling attack is insanely good, great openers, great middle order, great fields men (Chappell, Lloyd and Woolley especially).I need quality batting reserve; I'm going with Zaheer Abbas

Great team as well. I'd be inclined to play Stewart as as opener, and leave Jardine out.Jager said:1. Gary Kirsten

Macartney's record was exemplary at 3. Plus Worrell has the burden of being the fifth bowler, and captain.Yes a great team, Worrell was a better pacer than spinner though and I think he is a better option at three than Macartney. Just think that Dev is a realative weak link as the third seamer, but that's probably just me.
Awesome post. And with a captain as good as Worrell, I don't think the side would have any trouble adapting. Dev doesn't need to be an incredible strike bowler in this side, either. We've got Marshall and Garner for that.Kapil Dev's Strike Rate is 63.9 which isn't bad for a swing bowler.
In comparison, Maurice Tate was 80.7 and Alec Bedser was 67.4.
Kapil also has the advantage of being a capable batsman. Although Maurice Tate was pretty handy with the bat in his time.
Personally, I prefer sub-60 fast bowlers, but who am I to say that having a slower swing bowler in your team isn't an excellent contrast to extreme pace.
I think that some batsman like Hayden and Gooch prefer straight up-and-down fast bowling to the ball moving around. So, if I were Ed's captain I may even open the attack with Marshall and Kapil Dev when playing KKs team. Especially if it's overcast.
BTW kyear, really strong side as well. I really must pick John Snow in my next draft.
