I too was kind of surprised that Adcock and Hall were not picked till Round 8... I am pleased with my bowling line up now!

Neil Adcock to complete my team!

CricZo XI

1. Matthew Hayden / ( 8625 @ 50.73 with 30 tons )
2. Graham Gooch / ( 8900 @ 42.58 with 20 tons )
3. Rahul Dravid / ( 13288 @ 52.31 with 36 tons )
4. Wally Hammond / o ( 7249 @ 58.45 with 22 tons; 83 @ 37.80 ) - 6
5. Kevin Pietersen / ( 6857 @ 49.33 with 20 tons )
6. Garry Sobers / o ( 8032 @ 57.78 with 26 tons; 235 @ 34.03 ) - 4
7. Rod Marsh + ( 3633 @ 26.51 with 3 tons; 355 dismissals )
8. Richie Benaud o / ( 2201 @ 24.45 with 3 tons; 248 wickets @ 27.03 ) - 5
9. Dale Steyn o ( 272 wickets @ 23.18 ) - 1
10. Wes Hall o ( 192 wickets @ 26.38 ) - 2
11. Neil Adcock o ( 104 wickets @ 21.10 ) - 3
Team ticks all of the boxes, L/R opening combination, great middle order with attacking options down to six, greatest ever all rounder, good bolwing all rounder, bowling attack that has bounce (Adcock), swing (Steyn) and pace and agression (Hall), six legit bowling options and an amazing keeper to gully cordon of Marsh, Dravid, Hammond, Sobers and Hayden. Great balance.

Try Ambrose, Waqar, Larwood, Rhodes :p
Mark Taylor averaged 79.23 runs over 12 Tests against Imran, Waqar, and Wasim :D

Simpson had no problem with Wes Hall or Griffith, and scored a double century against them in Bridgetown. He'll probably have no problem with Ambrose either :p

And that's just my openers!

Adcock is underrated I think

Neil Adcock was the first South African quick bowler to take 100 Test wickets. Unlike Procter, the Pollocks and Donald, Neil Adcock did not have the benefit of world-class support, but he still managed 104 wickets at an average of only 21.

Tactical avoidance of the fact Taylor averaged 28.61 in 19 matches against Ambrose with only 1 century, strike rate 34

That will be during the 1990/91 5 test series in the West Indies where he averaged 49.00 against Ambrose, Marshall, Patterson and Walsh.

So, how many test centuries did Doug Walters score during 4 tours to England? :whistling

(But, as they say. The harder you look at statistics the blinder you get :p)

And you could let Sobers patrol the covers, because Benaud's one of the best ever in the gully.

1. Len Hutton
2. Bruce Mitchell
3. David Gower
4. Mike Hussey
5. Shivnarine Chanderpaul
6. Clyde Walcott +
7. Keith Miller
8. Fazal Mahmood
9. Jim Laker

11. Courtney Walsh

12th man: Damien Martyn

Not entirely sure whether to go with Hussey or Martyn for number 4. What's the general thought amongst you lot?

I prefer Hussey for this particular team.

Very solid opening pair but Gower is unpredictable. He can be sublime, but is just as likely to fail. Therefore, I think that you need a more solid batsman at No.4 who can stiiffin up the middle-order with Chanderpaul.

Hussey or Chanderpaul would also work well with your attacking batsman Walcott and Miller and allow them to play shots. They would 'hang-around', rotate the strike, and enjoy watching their team-mate hit 4s.

Lastly, both Hussey and Chanderpaul are capable of very long patient innings that can last well into the tail. I'm not sure about Damien Martyn though.

To have everyone in the batting position that suits them best, I'd go

1. Hutton
2. Mitchell
3, Walcott
4. Gower
5. Miller
6. Chanderpaul
7. Hussey
8. Mahmood
9. Laker
10. Bedser
11. Walsh

Slightly unconventional, but looks like it'd work to me.
