WI go into this series on the back of a series against Aus and England, NZ go into this series on the back of **** all for 4 months, I wonder where it all went wrong for NZ.

I actually liked Kim Lawnbowls pie idea when he first came in, and in fact I still believe it has merit.

The problem is there is no way he and Buchanan can be following it judging by the contract list.

Wright may have been an intuitive, which is always going to be a higher chance of hit and miss, but unlike most he has excellent intuition for spotting a good player. Bracewell and Brownlie cases in point (though the pie should have agreed with Brownlie's selection somewhat). You cannot afford to throw away someone like that for two Australians whose respective merits for important jobs are coaching a team of all time greats schooled by Border and a lawnbowls guy.

Doing a highlights post-morten atm. Watching Nicol's dismissal doesn't bode well for him at all, absolutely nowhere near that ball.

EDIT: The **** was that from Brownlie

Nicol is far too one-dimensional to be successful at international level. Against sides who aren't Zimbabwe.

And Flem is right - a whole host of selections over the summer, and in the contract list, showed that the pie method was just a **** designed to look good in print. And any blame portioned to Littlebowls should be aimed at Buchanan for hiring him, then Vaughan for hiring Buchanan, then the board for hiring Vaughan. And so forth.

You can afford to be one dimensional if you've got stacks of talent, ala Gayle or Pollard, which Nicol definitely does not.

Gayle and Pollard will get easier to handle as the formats get longer, because we bring in the better bowlers and Gayle is far more suited to limited overs cricket. Is Gayle even playing the tests? Wouldn't mind the Windies playing two openers worse than ours, so no Gayle would be nice. McCullum returning to the opening spot would also be nice.

We need to, and will, sharpen up with our batting though if we want to put in competent performances.

I'm pretty sure he's paying the tests, which is bad news, as he's enjoyed our bowlers in recent years. And I think, especially in home conditions, that he'll be just as dangerous, if not more so, in the tests. With the ball not bouncing or swinging as much, i think our medium-quicks could be in for a frightening time.

Prime News reporting Taylor is out for 6 weeks.

This tour is just taking the piss now.
It's 2-6 weeks by his account, so there's still a chance he'll play in the tests, but yeah, Williamson to captain in the odis, ffs. If Taylor does miss out on the tests, who captains? McCullum?

Team for the first odi will presumably be:

Guptill
Nicol
McCullum
Williamson
Brownlie
Latham
NcCullum
Bracewell
Southee
Nethula
Mills

Damn, we are going to get turbo ****ed.

Brendon McCullum's in the ODI squad now?
Hah, OK I forgot about the fact that he's sitting out the ODI's. So I suppose Williamson moves up to three and we slot twatface somewhere in the middle order. fmd.

Sucking at T20 = bad start to every single tour. Almost enough to make me wish we were good at twenty 20
