Quick World ATG XI draft- No Bradman

Tough call, especially since I have a massive paranoid thing about Miller at 6, I absolutely hate it. He needs to be at 5 or 7 otherwise it doesn't make sense to my mind (long story). Can we pick whoever we want as a wicketkeeper?

You can pick any keeper you want. At the end it might be cool for us to write up a little piece on our respective teams, and why we chose who we did.

Only three keepers selected so far (Ames, Knott and Gilchrist). Interested to see when the run on keepers starts, but I guess there is plenty of quality left. I wanted Ames early because I think a good keeper who averages over 40 with the bat gives you a lot of flexibility with your later selections, and he could bat anywhere from 6-8, depending what happens in the next few rounds.

Unedited editions of all the Wisdens, IMO.

And everyone knows that because Kevin Pietersen has a weakness against left-arm spin, Xavier Doherty is a better spin bowler than Erapalli Prassana,whose average against Pakistan at 4:49 on a Wesdnesday in May while suffering from amnesia is .02 of a run higher than that of Charlie Blythe, thus meaning Tim Paine is a better wicketkeeper than Engineer.

Not sure why Botham bats ahead of Gilchrist here, Gilchrist has a significantly better average and handled pace pretty well. Especially Wasim Akram. On the other hand Botham's average tended to bottom out when playing the West Indian quicks during a series. I don't recall him making a big score against them, or Pakistan either when Imran was at his peak.

On the other hand, Botham is a natural No.7 where there is less pressure and he can hit out with the tail.

Yeah Watto, but it will so much depend on how I develop this team. I will definitely switch them or Botham might bat at No.8 if I decide to go with 4 bowlers only.

Yep, Botham's record as a bowler up until about 1983-4 was superb. He could play purely as a fast-medium swing bowler and he wouldn't be out of place in an ATG team.

Against all teams on all surfaces he took wickets consistently until his back went.

I'm going to grab the mighty Kapil Dev here, as my third paceman and someone with the ability to bat anywhere in the order from 5-8. Will give me a mega middle/lower order with Ames and Hadlee in there as well.

Average of 31 with the bat and 29 with the ball. Great cricketer!
