Seriously, why does Trott get selected for ODI cricket? His average is very good but his strike rate is only 48 per 100 balls and today it is only 61.

In contrast Bopara is scoring at 100/100balls.

Misreading his average for his strike rate it seems.

Edit: Classic stuff between Pollard and Trott

Scores at 77, nothing too wrong with that when you add it to his average of nearly 50. Plenty of other one day players are around 80 but for some reason Trott gets a lot of stick for it.

Still not sure why some pundits etc had WI had favorites coming into this, it's not as if they've won a series against anyone the last few years, whereas England rarely get beat at home.

Sorry, mis-read some stats on cricinfo.

But I still think he scores too slowly for ODI cricket, and in a high scoring game that can put too much pressure on the other batsmen to score more quickly.

Well his strike-rate is better than Bell's and Bopara's, and he scores lot's more runs. So whine at them.

Today's strike-rate was perfectly reasonable in the context of the game, what pressure?

#Trottsfault, for others playing crap innings is a risible thing.

Ha ha

So you and the umpire are in a better position to make a decision than a guy with every piece of technology available - complete horse ****

A few days ago, WI referred a decision against Trott where the ball was clipping leg stump and were shafted upon referral- if it is hitting the stumps then that is it

In the next innings, Bell was given not out despite driving it to the keeper (admitted hitting it at the post match conference) - hit the ball = out

IMO, DRS needs a complete overhaul as there is less certainty today than there was before its introduction

What about the hundreds of incorrect decisions that have been overturned?

Good point, and spinners particularly will appreciate the new technology as umpires are now FAR more likely to give batsmen out when thay are hit on the front pad and the bat is conveniently tucked just behind the pad. Batsmen are now forced to play with their bat clearly out in front of the pad, increasing the opportunity for the fielding side.

A good application of technology imo.:thumbup1:

Yes, been a godsend to the game, with all these flat pitches. DRS not the problem with this decision anyway. If you think it's wrong Hill's onfield decision was the error.

Social being obtuse and deliberately ignoring the rules regarding the DRS system...
Sure

Bell hits it and is given not out when blatantly caught behind

Obtuse?

**** that!

Symonds was lambasted the world over as a cheat for doing it once

Bell is 3 times and counting despite the NEW technology

Social and WW are the same person and I claim my £10.

Another crushing defeat for WI. They really are abysmal. So much for a revival once Narine and Gayle were back.

I havent criticized England but I find the whole attitude re the DRS a complete joke when it has clearly favoured one team in this series

Gayle was obviously unlucky

Bell (no idea why anyone likes this ****) admitted cheating and not for the first time

Tell me where I'm wrong

I don't consider not walking cheating.

And my thoughts on DRS have been well documented. Deeply flawed system. No snicko - no good.

Annnnyyyyywwwwhhhhooooo

we've rested Broad, Bres and Swann. Be interesting to see who get's a game, Woakes as batting all-rounder you would think. Tredwell there instead of Briggs is a bit depressing. Would rather Meaker than Dernbach for the other seamers spot. May not have one though and go for Tredders and Samit, with Ravi getting a long bowl.

Keen on Woakes getting a game. Could be a huge player for England if he stays injury-free IMO, especially in OD cricket.

Yeah definitely want to see Woakes get some action. I think he could be the man who converts England to 5 bowlers in the future.
