You question was " Would Stuart Broad make the world's strongest x1?"Hilf better than Broad?
I mean. I just. I'm like. Oh man. So. Yeah, what?
Is Stuart Broad a better bowler than Steyn?
Anyway, I'm no great fan of Hilf but right at this point in time he is a better bowler than Broad
Should've closed the thread after this post.Yes, as he is already in it.
Even if one accepts Steyn, Anderson, Philander, Pattinson & Hilf 2.0 are better bowlers he's patently a cut above where it comes to an all round package.I'd actually say he's the easiest of the four to pick bowlers because he fills the bowling "all-rounder" role basically alone. Three of Steyn, Anderson, Philander, Broad and one of Swann and Ajmal. Pattinson isn't in the running IMO.
Would be curious to see what people's World XIs are now tbh. A lot of movement over the last year. Especially in the batting.
all rounder: bowl avg 18, bat avg 34Pattinson isn't in the running IMO.
You're right if you look at Broad's entire Test match career. Is Stuart Broad a better bowler than Steyn?
Not in this lifetime or any other
Is Stuart Broad a better bowler than Anderson?
Not as big a gap but you get my drift
Spinner?
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh that may come in handy
Now, let's look at just one of Broad's direct competitors in Vernon Philander
331 FC wickets at 18
51 test wickets at 14
Broad - let's not even go there!
He averages 30+ with the ball in tests and 28 in fc
Aside from Philander, every single one of his direct competitors has a better record
FMD, it's not hard to work out that he wouldnt make it!
Best all rounder in the world ATM.all rounder: bowl avg 18, bat avg 34
Might have better career records but anyone with half a brain knows he was picked too early and has basically learned his cricket as a international player but saying that in the last 2 years he averages better than the likes of Harris, Hilfenaus & Siddle. You question was " Would Stuart Broad make the world's strongest x1?"
Sorry but the answer is obviously "NO"
Steyn picks himself
Anderson is better than Broad
Ajmal
Philander, Hilf, Harris, Siddle etc etc etc all have better records than Broad
It's pretty bloody easy when you think about it
Now all you have to do is make the case for why a World XI needs an all-rounder.Best all rounder in the world ATM.
I'm tempted to do it just to make a liar out of you but I agree in essence; Anderson and Steyn are non-negotiable for me. Broad/Philander and Swann/Ajmal would make up my other two bowling spots, dependant largely on my whims of the day most likely. Pushed right now I'd probably have to say Broad (for batting) and Swann (partly for catching/batting and partly because I instinctively feel his more traditional method is less likely to suddenly be debunked or neutralised by conditions).Anyone who posts a World XI without Jimmy Anderson in it is going on my ignore list.
I can't put you on ignore thoughI'm tempted to do it just to make a liar out of you.
