Patto ripping **** up. This is more what I had in mind for division 2.

Pleased for Leics. Clearly all they needed to do was get that waste of space Taylor out of the lineup.

Surrey seem to have forgot they got promoted so far this season.

Playing too aggressively against teams that have better bowling attacks than they'll have faced in Div.2 in a while.

Really glad Jacques got his ton today woulda gone up to the game if I didn't get stuck looking after the dog for the day...

Surrey should continue the way they're playing imo. There is no point in Roy, RHB or Maynard playing passively and getting out. It's not ideal but that's the way they play. Plenty of teams are going to struggle batting this early in the season. It's not as if ZDB or Ramps who have more traditional methods have scored many runs so far this season either.

Surreys style just doesn't really suit these conditions. Last season they started poorly and it was only their end of season form that allowed them to get promotion. Their bowling for the most part is excellent on good wickets (tremlett, dernbach, meaker, jordan) because they have pace and variation and until they brought in Lewis(who is a really good signing imo on a shortterm basis) Linley was their only medium pace swinger(who are so vital for the first part of the season). The batting is still young, inexperienced and erratic but it's also exciting and will move the game along for their superior bowlers to capatilise on. They may lose quite a few games especially at the start of the season because of their hyper aggressive style but they will end the season strongly where their squad depth and aggresive nature on flat wickets should win more games than most teams.

Having got lucky for 2 years this year is proving how ridiculous it is to try and fit nearly half the season in before the end of May.

Lancashire getting Rikki'd. 155 run unbeaten partnership at 4.5 an over with Maddy. Rather massive turnaround being 81-7 playing 250, going at barely over 2 an over.

Some comeback from Warwickshire. Warw seem to have an abundance of batting and bowling allrounders and given they've got injuries to their two best bowlers this is a good start to their season.

Worst batsman for Warws in this match is Wright who averages 18.6 in fc cricket. With Woakes, Barker, Clarke and Maddy there is some real strength in depth and good options. Troughton and spinning options remain their biggest weaknesses imo, but you can't have everything.

Runs for Bopara today and Stokes getting to bat against Finn today with Strauss watching should be good.

Technically I think we should go with the line that Mills is doing all the work, what would teams do without a lucky Tyke.

gotta start the 'Ravi 4 England' bandwagon again.
Yep all the ****wits (the journalists) on Cricinfo will be licking their lips over this. Banging on about how Bopara deserves his chance (ignoring the fact he has played for England comfortably more times than Trott or Bresnan)

Time to push on a bit now lads, would like a declaration tonight, more time the better. Compton really has been our best bat for 2 years.
