You may have a point there, but at the same time I can't think of any immediately obvious contenders for the young player award tbh. Probably explains why players who aren't really young at all (like Aguero) have been nominated. Will give it a bit of thought and see if I can come up with anyone.

On an unrelated note, not looking good this match.

You'll probably do better than me - I'm really not familiar enough with who's who nowadays. But I'd be surprised if there wasn't a youngster at Newcastle, Everton or Swansea who's been playing consistently well all season.

Yeah, Tim Krul.

Tim Krul is 24 years old and so isn't eligible for the young player of the year award. Whether or not he should be shortlisted for the full award is another matter.

Wigan dominated that second half. What's going on there, why have they suddenly become awesome?

Well, Arsenal clearly already think they have 3rd place sewn up. Not a good result at all. Have put a lot of pressure on themselves to beat Chelsea next week.

Never mind though, at least we lost to a team I really like. Fantastic run for Wigan this, will be gutted if they go down now. Incredible effort from them.

**** me sideways - Wigan the form team in the country right now. Spurs, Chavs and Newcastle just got a bit of extra hope in the race for 3rd too.

Roberto Martinez WAG.

I was wondering that too - wins at Arsenal & Liverpool and at home to Man Utd and Stoke, as well as being robbed blind at Chelsea in their last 5 games. I'm pleased for Martinez, who always strikes me as one of the games real gents. Villa should be getting nervous now, especially if Bolton can win one of their games in hand.

Nah, **** 'em. Not a real football team. When Whelan pops his clogs they can **** off back to the obscurity God meant for them.

Oh yeah let's not let small teams dream of making it, maybe scrap relegation and promotion? ****s me off no end when big clubs feel they have a right to be in the top division.

Wigan may have no fans but makes them all the more loveable, if they stayed up by spending a **** load of money that would be different but they really don't.

Yeah, far too few teams like Wigan to be honest. Very rare you get a team who're earnest, try hard and really have a go, keep plugging away to the very end, play decent football, that doesn't have a squad populated by ****s and have a really nice decent lad as a manager. The fact that they have stayed up for a prolonged period, having routinely lost their key players every 2 seasons or so, without actually breaking the bank and relying on bringing in relative unknowns and misfits makes them really likeable, true success story.

Edit: Good chairman as well.

Was thinking James McClean would be a reasonable nomination for the Young Player Award, but he's only been going since January IIRC?

Just nominate Jordan Rhodes.

Yeah, James McClean would have been a good shout, has really come on a lot considering he was playing in the Irish league prior to last summer. But yeah, only made his debut in the hilarious 1-0 win over Man City around the turn of the year iirc.

Yeah if Hart can make the main list, he deserves the young un. Especially being a regular keeper for Arsenal is no mean feat!

RvP to walk the main award IMO. Not only has he been prolific, but by god he's done it in style. Had about 6-7 goal of the season contenders in there.
