*Official* English Domestic Cricket 2012

Benny Howell set to sign with Gloucestershire apparently. Had a couple of trials and impressed the right people. Looking at his age and record you'd have to wonder why he didn't already have a club though.

England player availability is out.

Bell and Strauss available from next week, Trott Prior and Cook have a bit longer. Most of the bowlers playing two matches before the test, Jimmy just one. Notts vs Lancs with Jimmy and Swann should be a good match.

Kerrigan playing ahead of Keedy today, Sussex will be happy to have won the toss though. Not sure how much play we will get either.

Good move for all, that. He's shown some promise at Hampshire, could never quite understand why they didn't give him more of a shot. Also joining his old school mate Dan Housego, which is interesting. I'd imagine he'll open, considering they're currently utilising a very average wicketkeeper in that role.

Both in the slips I think, still both openers now gone anyway. Looks like a great toss to win
You coudn't really blame them in this weather. I wonder which slip-fielder will be brave enough to wear gloves until the temperature reaches double figures.

Are you allowed to wear gloves? I mean can't see why not but never really thought about it.

Notts 2 down with Samit at the crease who has come back into the side at 4. Both he and James Taylor will be desperate for a few runs. On the flip-side, Onions has got himself another early wicker. Good signs.

Derbyshire wrecked by Graham Wagg and were in dire straights at 44/5. Wainwright proving just how useful a signing he could be though and is launching the recovery process.

James Anyon making inroads in Liverpool, much to Richard's delight. No doubt the Lancs lower order will add a few, as usual.

Somerset having a 'mare :(

Michael Lumb goes to leave Notts 33/3 with Ben Stokes getting the wicket...that's a good sign, he had to play just as a batsman at the end of last season, so glad to see he's bowling again.

Lumb not even getting to his standard 30 then.

Hants having a bit of an interrupted start to life in Div 2 but Balcombe picking up where he left of with Kent.

Lancs starting their title defence well I see....

And Samit goes to Mitch Claydon, that's a wicket each for the 4 Durham bowlers used so far. Notts 38/4

Listening to the Warwickshire Somerset game, Philander playing a decent knock. Dockrell can hold a bat as well.
