Would they be termed "Australians", because "Australia" is only used for tests, odis and T20s?

Either way, they're lucky to be representing the greatest nation on earth.

/trollface.

Dodgy pitches and an inability for even Cricinfo to get and post a scorecard.

This is going to be a very interesting series....

Be interesting to see who gets squeezed out among the quicks.

Personally, I would go with Harris, Siddle and Pattinson.

Pattinson's Test record is outstanding and, now he is fit, should come straight back in.

It would be a retrograde step to have an attack of Harris, Siddle and Hilfenhaus (with a young gun in Pattinso sitting on the sidelines)

Hilfy will probably get a go later in the Series anyway, given that the three Tests are played in consecutive weeks.

Has anyone else heard that Hussey is struggling to be fit for the First Test with Peter Forrest set to make his debut?

Neither, but how good would it be. :)

you'll have to fly over and do the job yourself
Nah, my plan is for the drinks boy at training to slip a mickey into Hussey's Gatorade.

But seriously, it would be great to see Forrest play Test Cricket if a batsman got injured or poisoned. I wouldn't take into account his ODI form at all, it's not his game.

Wonder if this match is sufficiently non-serious that we could artificially bump up the target a bit. Our top four could do with a little more batting in the middle.

Hmm it seems Patto is the only bowler not to have done much...at the same time though taking too much from these practice games probably isn't the greatest idea. Would still be going with Harris, Patto and Siddle, although I wouldn't mind at all if Hilf was instead of Siddle.

I don't really think the difference between Harris and the other bowlers is big enough to compensate for the fact that he might not finish the match, myself, particularly if we look at how he's bowled in general since his last return from injury.

By what Harris and other journos there have said it sounds as if the first Test side is locked in stone as

Cowan
Warner
Watson
the trio
Wade
Siddle
Patto
Hilf
Lyon

Not sure I trust Harris' opinion on selections involving himself...seems like a massive pessimist.

well yeah we're horrible against spin, but none of the batsman getting out for single figures is a good sign
I see Baugh has come and said that the Aussies are weak against spin also.

Who are the spinners that have done all the damage to Australia, Australian spinners have out performed most of their spinning opponents and Aussie spinners are supposed to be hopeless.

Waiting for the inevitable "Baugh should shut up until he's scored some runs" comeback from either Wade or Pattinson.

tbf we had peter siddle batting at 7 and were missing warner, mussey and wade. of austin and bonner's collective six wickets, only two were top six batsman (cowan and nevill) and only one will be playing the first test so i'm not sure that it's entirely appropriate to assume that four tailenders falling to spin is a reflection of the top order
