Ha, **** me. Depressing stat of the day. Today is the first time two English players have scored for the Arse in one game since 1997!

tbf to us, none of the top 5 sides have taken full points from the Britannia this season and it took a one in a million goal to even get Stoke on the sheet.

Reckon we'll draw with City when we play them but the way Chelsea are going we can beat them. Our tragic start to the season is really hurting us, take the first 7 games away and we're in the middle of a title race. Think after making so many changes in the summer the team has finally gelled a little and the results now show what we're capable of.

Lol at the Liverpool fans I spoke to earlier this season lording it over us though. They only turn up in big games and even then they can't finish teams off.

Pretty annoying that Motty left out the information that would actually make that stat interesting though (i.e. who the scorers were).

Would hazard a guess at it being Wright and Merson.

Yeah, I was thinking this. Having a settled back four for the last couple of weeks has improved things a lot, and the rest of the team really does seem to be coming together. Not sure if it would have been good enough to challenge for the title, but there are encouraging signs there.

On another note I think Rvp will stay but we really need to do something in the transfer market to keep him and Jack happy. Incredible to think we've played the whole season without our most talented midfielder as well.

Was Merson still at Highbury in 1997? Other candidates are Parlour & Adams. The rest of the back four was English in those days, wasn't it? Not that Dixon, Bould or Winterburn scored many.

Well our 8th game saw the return of Koscielny which gave us at least one centre half and allowed us to put Song back in midfield. Since then we're level on points with both Manchester clubs. It's not ludicrous to suggest, had we not been missing an entire back four for the first month and a half and Wenger had made signings a bit earlier, we'd be right up there.
